I've been on leave from work for the past little while and have done some stuff here and there, a lot of 2025 planning, (financial things mainly) and quite a lot of work around the house plus some other things I don't want to talk about here. It's been pretty relaxing though, and while not much of an exciting nature has happened I've been pretty content with my time off and what I've achieved so far.
Today was a super cool and chilled day; my partner and I spent it together looking at things we normally don't get time to look at and we had all the time in the world day to do it; that's rare for us.
We looked at a couple new cars we're considering for my partner, more to either cross them off the list or confirm that they belonged on there for further research down the track; we won't be buying for a while yet but narrowing them down now will make it easier later. It was good because the dealer representativea we saw were really friendly and non-pushy. We hit some homemaker centres looking for some stuff furniture stuff for our BBQ/alfresco entertaining area and for inside too. It was nice browsing around and we actually picked up a couple things at really great discounts.
We ate lunch together and then I wanted to hit the camping/outdoor stores so we went to Anaconda, BCF and Macpac to see what we could see and...yeah I bought a couple things.
When we got home I had a parcel from America which I'd been waiting for these last several weeks, a new handgun holster, and was pleased it actually made it through customs to be honest. I got to work setting it up for the gun and getting it mounted on the duty belt and may do a little post about it, or not, but I was really happy to see how well it worked and am keen to try it out on the range.
Overall, it was a really nice day with no need to rush around and no real schedule or plan...we just floated about and by the end of the day seemed to have achieved a lot.
I almost always have something to do and limited time to do it so days like today are welcome. It was productive even though there was no plan but even had we only managed to achieve half of what we did I'd say the same. A good day all round.

"A couple of things" or half the store? :D
that seems to be what my mother's idea of "a couple of things" is
Why wouldn't a holster make it through customs? D:
Relaxing is nice and definitely something I think that's a lot more needed, there's too much scurrying.
Lol...just a couple things only and nothing overly exciting.
With the holster, Australian customs can be quite sporadic with how they handle firearms related things so one never really knows; a lot of businesses in the States won't even ship here as they get a constant stream of returns as things haven't gone through customs. Quite retarded and nanny state of the government really.
Definitely sounds it.
Sounds like a great day, and they come around so seldom. It's good you got to take advantage of the unhurried version of getting alot done!
Nice, is how I'd put it, comfortable. We both commented on how enjoyable it was to have no need to rush about.
Days like yours when time flies by and we enjoy the day without hurry or worries, those are the best days, the essence of life. A great start of the year!
Here, it's the first shift of the year, no calm for me 😂
It was nice, nothing very exciting but a good day nonetheless.
Good luck for your first shift; I'll be back at work myself soon.
When you don't plan, then everything comes together achieving a full day is always a pleasure. Letting go to enjoy little perks in life, like floating around having fun at the same time.
Happy 2025!
Indeed, although I like to plan some things and have great results from doing so. The trick is knowing when and when not to.
Happy new year Joan.
No straight lines as you get older, more zigzag, take time letting go when on leave!
Relaxed days without plans are good from time to time, the mind relaxes and the body too, you enjoy it in a different way and you can do many things that you like to do. In my case I love to go to craft and art shops, it fascinates me, even if I don't really need anything.
Other than craft shops is there anything else that makes your heart sing when you do it?
Painting, walking in nature, loving, my cats!
I notice you don't mention anything that involves other people; I think they can overcomplicate things too much sometimes.
True... I made a quick response, but love can include someone else.
Good results are not achieved only when we are competitive, while adrenaline is at a high level.
We can often achieve much more on those days when we feel nice and comfortable with our time, in a relaxed atmosphere.
This Friday is one of those for me. My non-working days were the first and second of January, today I go to work, and the weekend follows.
Adrenaline probably won't be able to rise, but I'll go into a resting mode 😀
Hopefully you have a decent day at work, productive and all.
I wish I could have such a day today or tomorrow. I'm glad that besides peaceful it was profitable for both of you, for you and your partner.
Have you had a busy start to the year?
Have you had a busy start to the year?
Yes I've had a busy start, I arrived at my apartment a couple of hours ago. That's good, so I shouldn't be complaining, but I am. 😁
There's always a little room for complaint and I think it's ok to do...because eventually one begins to see it as unproductive and simply gets back to the tasks required to move forward.
I guess it's a little release valve. The truth is that I laugh at myself every time I complain when things are going well. And, it's also true that I'd rather have a job than not have one...
Agreed, and I think no matter a person's situation everyone does it from time to time.
That's true, we all complain sometime...
I'm a little slow of neurons, I forgot that you are starting the day there. Have a great day.
Sounds like a perfect day! My wife and I were sitting around the other day and I asked her if she was ready to go back to work. She said she was a little. I totally get it. I was only off two days compared to her 10, but it still felt like I was not being productive enough. We need those lazy days every now and then, so I didn't feel too bad!
Eager to get back to work I'm not, (so many other things I could be doing), bit won't be long and I'll be back. It's ok though, it'll mean getting on with the year and that means working towards my goals. A few more lazy days ahead for me though, I'll make the most of them.
If it were summer here I would probably feel differently, since it is winter, there isn't much to do but work or freeze!
It's good you make out time, sometimes for yourself and love ones✌️
It's nice to slow down sometimes and I think a person has a responsibility to themselves to find the time to do that.
It sounds like you had a great day. Days without plans are most likely to end up quite a perfect day.
Yep, I'm content with perfect enough because I don't think perfection is possible. Thanks for commenting.
I think you're right, perfection is not that possible 😅. Anyway, have a great day!
Beautiful pictures 😍
Thanks, it is a really cool spot to spend some time.
You had a very satisfying day and you spent it with your partner and I think the day was priceless.😊😊 I hope you can have more time and relaxing day this year together with your partner.😊
I hope for more days like this.
😊😊
Very good photo
Thanks.
Ah you certainly deserve a day that you can float through.
Glad to hear you are having some down time. Great start to 2025 xx
Keen to hear how it works out on the range. 👀
Post about it. 👍
