Human's wouldn't stand much chance, but like you say, probably unlikely it would bite something it couldn't eat. Poor little rats though.

Kangaroo Rats are just cool, no doubt about it. But they breed like rats. Right now there are too many for the rapidly depleting food, the snakes normally keep them in check but something happened to a large fraction of the sidewinders this year. Too many rodents. We could really use some rain to get stuff growing in the desert again....
We're always looking for rain here, that's Australia for you. We're coming into another fir season and it only seems that last just finished. I hope you get some rain, it's amazing how refreshing it can be huh?
It's amazing with the rain. Now that the weather has cooled some if we'd get rain today there would be fresh grass and such in the desert tomorrow. It's incredibly fast.
If we get rain in the summer (thunderstorms that we didn't get this year) the desert reacts much slower due to the temp. It's a pretty finely tuned system...
It's about time for the fall rains in the mountains which will end some of the fire season here. Typically coastal California gets heavy winds this time of year and can really burn.
It's really cool how things can lay dormant then come to life once the rains come along. There's some frogs that I've seen that do that, shutting down their system for a long time, then they come back to life with the rain. Amazing nature.
My mom had frobbies. A colony of toads that lived in a window well at the farm. The name came from her oldest grandson :) She could call them forth with a garden hose and just amazed kids to see them digging out and being active.
Frogs are pretty amazing little things.
