A few weeks ago I started sharing some music on Saturday's for a little concept someone started in the WEEKEND EXPERIENCES community which I applaud, it's someone taking the initiative to use the community in their own way, creatively, and opening up an opportunity to share some music and engage with others who do the same.
The tag is #saturdayselections and is simply a chance to talk about the weekend ahead, what's planned (or unplanned) and to share a few tracks that you've been listening to. I didn't think I'd keep doing it regularly but so far I have and actually look forward to dropping some tracks I've been playing most recently.
This Saturday's installment is all instrumental music and comes from movies, war movies to be exact, and I find them quite powerful. It's incredible how music together wish strong visuals in a move can combine to deepen the feelings and emotions we have in respect of what we're seeing - that's why so much effort is put into movie scores I guess, an industry all of its own.
Each of the movies are based on real events which were, as war stories often are, situations that depicted the best and worst in human nature, terrible moments and triumphs and, if one delves deeper into the story of what came after, shows how war affects those who go to fight it.
As for the music below...it's just nice and so I was listening to it as part of my instrumental playlist over the last few days.

Yeah, certainly one of the better composers, and prolific.
Yes, he composed, arranged and produced the soundtrack for The Last Samurai, which was the theme for my son's high school band state competition. They didn't win that year, but were voted as a fan favorite. The musical score is still one of my favorites.
The musci behind Band of Brothers and Black Hawk Down really pull at my heart everytime I hear it. I just watched Band of Brothers again not long ago and had to skip the intro music because it got to my feels. The book Black Hawk Down about the the Battle of Mogadishu is really good if you get a chance to read it. Should be a must read for every NCO in the military.
Yeah, the music can b emotive and bring back some feelings for sure, I understand.
As for BHD (the book), it's in my collection and is dog-eared and worn so has had plenty of reads. Mike Durant has some great books out too (the captured Blackhawk pilot), well worth a read - BHD doesn't go I to his story very well, it's quite incredible.
I read one of Durant’s books. It was about the operation and his experience as a prisoner . Can’t remember what it was called though. It was a good read too if I recall.

Kicked back today, a couple catch ups with some lads from back in the day and later watching F1 practice 3 and qualifying from Bahrain, it's on late though.
Tomorrow I'm doing a BBQ, it's someone's birthday and I'm doing lunch. Late Sunday night the Bahrain F1 Grand Prix race is on and I'll be watching...late again. Lol.
A pretty relaxed weekend really. What about you? How's that flooding situation going up your way?

A friend and I will be working on improving some lanscaping in my yard today and tomorrow then I have to mow before more rain moves in. As far as flooding, the Ohio River just crested around Wed or Thurs and is just starting to go down. Most smaller rivers and waterways are following of course, but leaving a mess behind.
Good morning @galenkp, I only know one of the movies - Black Hawk Dawm. And it's the theme music I like the most, just reading the title of the theme and hearing the music, anyone can imagine what is happening without having seen the movie.
I reckon I've seen every war movie ever made but I know so many people don't enjoy them and that's fine.
This post is about the music which I think would be just as good if it was from any other type of music. There's some rather amazing composers isn't there?
I was going to use the music from Platoon (Adagio for strings) which is incredible but decided to go a different way on this occasion. All of these tracks are in an instrumental playlist I have which is something I listen to every week.

A nice day today, it got hot again (35C) and I spent it catching up with a few people (individually) at cafes.
I just finished dinner (Thai food) and will be watching Formula One practice 3 and qualifying later on, live from Bahrain. A relaxed Saturday.

Hans Zimmer is a composer that I love and in general all three songs surprised me, they are very good and on this occasion I liked all three songs very much, thank you!

The importance of music is so great that the Grammy Awards have had to include a space to reward the music creators who have the greatest impact.
It is true that music in film often plays an essential role because of the feelings it transmits and the sensations it leaves behind.
There are films that have marked me because of the music they gave me, such as the films Chariot of Fire and Titanic.

Movie music is always epic. If its a good movie then then last score/first score of the credits is usually in my experience extremely awesome. If the movie managed to bring you to a satisfying ending, then it ties is off in an epic way!
