Saturday
Right at this moment I'm sitting in a cafe waiting for a fellow to arrive with whom I have a meeting; it's a long (and private) story but to summarise, the chap has post-traumatic stress and is one of the people my support group assists.
He's relatively new to the group having been referred to us by another chap and this is only my second meeting with him. It's just coffee and a chat really, no deep diving into his issues, a friendly ear to listen if he wants to talk, with the view to further assess if we can help or his case needs to be escalated to a much more professional and qualified person. I'm also just someone for him to hang out with as he's managed to become quite disconnected from society. Anyway, he's just messaged me and said he's on the way. Great, I like punctuality.
This weekend I have two such appointments, both today, and a catch up with some of the co-leadership of my support group to discuss plans for an event we would like to hold in the coming months. That's just an excuse for a burger and some beers really, although some discussions and plans will (probably) ensue. Other than that, Saturday will pass by quietly.
Sunday
I'm not into Valentines Day and all that commercial rubbish maintaining that every day is Valentines Day in my household; we prefer to make doing nice things for each other a common and daily occurrence; I'm fortunate my girl-person feels the same way. It takes different forms, sometimes simply kind words or gestures, a note left, a track sent by text to convey some feelings, wandering hands (I like this one a lot), nights out, romantic picnics, breakfast in bed, doing all the chores so the other doesn't have to do any...the list is long.
This particular Sunday starts in a way that I'm not willing to speak about and follows on to breakfast, something a little different and more complex from a typical breakfast we might have.
I'm doing toasted bagels topped with cream cheese and smoked salmon, dill and capers with a side of my world famous fucken cheesy and awesome scrambled eggs. Most would just call them scrambled eggs but I'm trying to talk my efforts up a little here so play along. Coffee will also happen of course and we'll eat outside in our alfresco area with soft music and talking. I'm taking my girl on a picnic later so I'll pack and make ready and then we'll be off into some really nice autumn weather to find a secluded country location and spend the afternoon eating, snoozing, listening to music and...well, never you mind what else.
I'm making dinner later, a very simple platter for us to pick over while we watch some episodes of the series we're watching, season two of House of the Dragon. Afterwards I'll be running a bath for that girl of mine - her love of bubble baths is legendary - and later on...again, none of your business...that's if I have any energy left. (Note: Of course I fucken will!)
So that's my weekend in a nutshell.
WEEKEND EXPERIENCES community if you're keen. You can see three of the tracks I've listened to below. It'll be pretty good over all I think. Let me know what you're up to if you want to and, of course, feel free to share your #saturdayselections music in a post similar to this one and drop it into the

Aww this is your girl-person! She is a knockout :D I say you pair up quite well! You are good to each other and that's what counts.
This is what the world was built on, I say😅
I'm sure you enjoyed your day!
I think the term you're looking for is, "punching above your weight." I certainly am.
Seriously though, I am.
Seriously though, she's pretty special all round, not perfect by any means (no one is of course) but supportive of me and caring and all. I don't know, maybe she takes pity on me and stays around out of kindness rather than ditching me for a better dude. I'm lucky.
Yes, you certainly are lucky, and so is she.
I think she has to stay around to keep you from busting your big knucklehead from cracking open on the floor when you fall off the bed 😂
Haha, well I think for sure I'll never live that little falling out of bed incident down but don't worry, this knucklehead of mine is rock hard.
lol
Sounds like a fulfilling weekend filled with quality time!
Enjoy every second of it! 😁
While not a fan of capers, the spread you are putting out sounds amazing and I am sure you have crafted it to your girl's favourites!
Cheers!
It should work out quite nicely, nice weather too.
Hopefully you also have a good weekend; you doing a braai?
Naw. Taking it easy. Did some nice rump steaks in the pan with some potato wedges. It was amazing!
And then movie night with that!
Hi @galenkp, I hope that Saturday meeting went as you hoped and since there is a lot of Sunday ahead, even over there, I wish you a great Sunday.
I liked the song by Steve Earle.
Saturday went as planned, still some to go of course, and I've begun some preparation for Sunday which I reckon is going to tick a lot of boxes with that lady of mine. 😉
I'm sure your lady is in for a great Sunday (and you too, of course). Glad to hear Saturday went well. I'll be off now to stop by before it rains and before the street gets crowded 😅.
Have a nice weekend ahead, thanks for checking in, I always appreciate your comments and engagement.
I wish the same for you.
Thank you ☺️👋
Now that is a genius way to list the tracks. I had to click them to see if they were ones I like. Only the 3rd passed the click bait test. The first two are ehhh, just ok to me. Copperhead Road...
Fucking Legend
Now at your place today if I could just be a...
AcDc
Yep, Steve Earle knows what's up. Good video too right?
Yes Sir. 😉
Great line that one!
What a great selection of music! Very good! The second one is my favourite of that group... on the other hand what a great breakfast, I love it, very good to have energy all day long and I hope that meeting helped the person and was successful.
Looks like a very good weekend, peaceful. Hugs!
Good music is better than bad music, don't you agree? 😋
Totally agree!😂
Those are some good songs and it sounds like a great weekend. I got mine off to a nice start by ditching work and going on a day trip with my wife today.
Ditching work and a day trip...That sounds exactly right. Good stuff!
I think it is excellent tracks that you were listening to. Journey is one of my favorite bands and Guns N' Roses was my adolescence band with Nirvana, then I changed others but these are always in a very dear corner for me.I think I encourage and share at the #saturdayselections music.
A lot of the music these days seems not to have any soul so I tend to go back a little and listen to music from my younger days from time to time. Journey is a great band a d made some good music, I'm glad you picked that one out specifically.
I fully agree. I also return to the music of the past.I have a certain nostalgic tendency in my musical preferences. And I grew up listening to such good music that it is inevitable to return for more. My list of bands and great musicians is immense, I suppose it is due to my condition as a music lover. By the way, I love Journey and especially the voice of Steve Perry but of all the bands my band is The Police.
For sure, on Saturday you will be able to give good advice to that partner in your support group and you will have your good beers with the hamburger.
But, if you do what you have planned on Sunday you will have a 10 in your relationship because those are the things that make a relationship live and last.
The other day in a post you were asking about what to do to maintain a relationship and many of the answers are in this post and everything you do.
The first thing is to avoid paying homage to love on Valentine's Day and do it every day with those things you say is essential to keep love alive.
Thanks for sharing.
Happy weekend.
Cheers and greetings.
I don't think people should require a "special" day as motivation to do something a little special for their partner, life is every day as is a person's relationship so everyday should contain something special, even if it's a simple word or two or a small gesture to demonstrate the emotion.
I absolutely agree.
Therein lies the essence of life. Cheers and greetings.
It's great that you were able to enjoy yourself like that. Good for you!
By the way!
What great tracks you share with us!
I love all those bands!
The tracks are cool right? Not tracks one hears much these days but still good ones.
Have a good weekend.
The classics transcend time!
Have a good weekend you too!
Sounds like a good weekend :) I hope you will be able to help the new guy...
Yep, the meeting went really well and there's a way forward I reckon.
Happy weekend!
You too. 😊
