in Weekend Experiences3 years ago (edited)

Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.

This week the weekend-engagement concept writing options are all about you. It's your chance to share a little about yourself if you dare, and learn a little about some of the other community members in turn.

If you're looking for something to write about over the weekend take a look below for the options and if you feel like doing a post use my community, THE WEEKEND. If you follow the rules below you'll be eligible for some possible rewards on Monday and might get called out as a top post of the week.

The concept guidelines to follow

▫️ ▫️ ▫️ ▫️ ▫️

  • Use #weekend-engagement as the first tag of your post
  • Post in THE WEEKEND community (do not cross-post)
  • Follow community rules - ENGLISH only (not bilingual)
  • Closes 08:30 UTC Monday 27th June (google UTC)
  • Link-credit stock photos and don't plagiarise text

Select something from below to write about

▫️ ▫️ ▫️ ▫️ ▫️

Would you rather

Would you rather work in a job you totally hate but pays you well or work in a job you love and find inspiring but the pay was low and you had to strictly budget your financial matters. Explain your answers.

What bugs you

List three things that bug or annoy you, give examples, explain why those things bug you and how it impacts upon your life.

The most embarrassing

Tell us about the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you personally, how it made you feel and how it impacted your life when it happened and into the future.

Feeling the pride

What are a few things about yourself, or which you have done, that have left you feeling proud? List one, or a few, and tell us the situation and why you feel it was an accomplishment to be proud of. (Having children is excluded from this question.)

Nice topics. I had to jump at one of the questions

Nice variety of topics to select from, happy weekend engagement and trust you are doing well Big-G.

!BEER

Thanks Joan, I'm well...it's Friday night and I'm in the middle of making some tasty pasta for dinner and there's snacks for later. Couldn't be better.

I hope you have a great weekend.

Winter warm foods here as well Pea and Ham soup brewing, good to hear you are well.

Have a good one, enjoy!

Nice entry, let me start to put my pen to work although this part "(Having children is excluded from this question.)"* got me giggling.

The having children thing is an easy option so I decided to remove it to make people have to think a bit harder.

As a fairly new parent I can assure that having kids van easily apply to all of the suggested topics, so, good idea to leave it a bit out, lol. Looking forward to participate this weekend!

It's an easy answer for those who have children and I wanted to make people think a little differently, so excluded it. I'm glad you agree.

Oh, I see it's cool anyway. We've got nice topics to write about.

Stuck between “the most embarrassing” and “feeing the pride”.
Amazing topics as usual 🥰

You spiced up the questions so well and mixed them up nicely too. If this was a drink, it would be the perfect cocktail ever mixed hahaha. Happy weekend sir.

Hey Ola, have a great weekend yourself.

Thank you, sir. My warm cuddles to Cleo.

Thanks @galenkp for this weekend engagement. The topics are great. Dropping my post soon.

😊

My worst embarrassed moment! I'm thinking, I'm sure I have one!

Damn.... That first question though.

It's like the synopsis of most musicians lives:

Son: Mom! But I wanna be a concert pianist! It's my passion!

Mother: You would be a doctor and you would like it!

Son: Mother! But it's my dream - I love it more than anything!

Mother: Dreams won't pay the bills son nor bug you a nice car. You don't expect to eat sheet music for breakfast do you?

And it's not just musicians alone that often suffer this type of backlash from parents and other people, the same goes for: artists, writers, and even freaking ventriloquists!

Sadly, that's just how it often is these days, if you're not amongst popular known financially stable sectors like: medicine, information technology, finance, wall street, engineering and so on... You're most likely gonna struggle to get a decent meal every now and then. And even worse is the fact that if you're not amongst the category of people who pursue or belong to these type of sectors, then you'll often be looked down on by society.

Again, it of course helps to be exceptionally gifted in those particular "minor" fields. For example: you could actually make a decent buck from your works if you were as talented as say - Mozart, Stephen King, or Picasso. But common, let's face it, not everyone is that talented and so alas, the average of us in these "minor" fields suffer the same backlash nonetheless!

In conclusion, I'd say it's good to pursue what you love — career wise infact. Heck, if it's a job worth doing, then it's a job worth doing well! Do it for love or not at all I'd say but be prepared to seriously strive and suffer all the way through until you make it big time. That is, if you do end up making it before your laughable net salary and unforgivable financial debts kill you.

Sad.

P.S: I'll go for the third prompt, I have a very horrifying embarrassing moment I need to let outta my chest.

In conclusion, I'd say it's good to pursue what you love

I agree. Some don't have the luxury of doing this but if the opportunity is there then I think it's worth following.

I'm looking forward to your embarrassing moment.

I'll give you a little hint:

Riddle me this: What's brown, gives you relief, and rhymes with sheet?

Yeah... Think about that :)

Sounds intriguing.

Thinking about taking a CRACK at this one...

Would you rather...
"Would you rather work in a job you totally hate but pays you well or work in a job you love and find inspiring but the pay was low and you had to strictly budget your financial matters. Explain your answers."

Yes it's been a while, but I understand people don't always want to play along. It's ok, it's your choice.

Thank you.

One of the things that I really learned is that there is nothing worse than doing a job you hate: https://ecency.com/hive-168869/@plint/we-107-do-the-work

These topics are very interesting, thanks for giving us the opportunity to participate.

You're welcome.

I'm definitely jumping on this. The first topic is something I've had to consider a lot of times and I'm sure it'll be fun writing about it

Ok, well there's under six hours for this week's contest to run so I'm sure you'll make it in time.

Hi there, sir... It's good to be back and with amazing prompts. Here is my entry for this weekend. Hope it's not too late.
