Spotting Dutch "wildlife" In the Maashorst nature reserve.

Hello nature and photo lovers,

For a while now I wanted to visit the nature area of "de maashorst".
This area is famous in the Netherlands because of the "wild life" that you can spot there. I put wildlife in quotation marks because it's not really wildlife. All these animals you see are introduced buy humans.

They did that with a reason, to maintain the area here. They wanted to keep the open fields open and doing that by hand is pretty costly and really not doable. So they needed some animals who keep it that way. And those same animals are making the soil more fertile. That is a good thing for plants that the animals don't eat. A great variety of flowers and herbs are growing here very good. Also many exotic species and endangered plants thrive very good here.

But I will show you those plants some day. I need spring weather and a macro lens for that. And I have neither now. I hear you wonder now, what kind of animals are you talking about?

Well these beauty's.

We already spotted them from a distance but we were to scared to get closer that this.

I like this picture the best from these series. A beautiful frame of the trees and shrubs like a picture frame around the two cows in the middle.

I heard that these poles are several meters long and cast in concrete. Many of these poles are already broken down by these bulls.

That skin looks beauty full. The fly's are on the black part of the skin. That is absorbing the heat the most.

We did saw them from a distance already but this guy, who was watching and counting birds, didn't mind that they were crossing his path. I would be scared as F sitting there with my red jacket

Yes he is aloud to be inside the fences. Every body is aloud in there. There are warning signs every were that you need to take your distance of them. But it's free to walk around here.

We were standing outside the fence, they were a bit to close for comfort.

Off to the next animal who are roaming around free there.

Next are the wild horses. They scare me more that those bulls. I don't know why but horses are just not my thing.

IMGL6350.jpg

I think I watch to many video's of people who got kicked in the head by these animals. 😅 They feel to unpredictable to me.
