I left Ibadan 7pm on Friday[yesterday] due to fact that I was assigned to get the bride's gift and she personally sent me on an errand. After i left work around 4pm, I went straight to the market to get the stuffs I needed, it wasn't easy getting those things, I was at the market till around 5:30 and got home around 6:09 pm. I rushed to the bathroom to shower, quickly get dress, luckily my bag was packed already, just added the stuffs I went to get at the market then went straight to the park.

I got to the park 7pm and fortunately for me, I was the last passenger that was needed, they collected the transport fee and we heeded towards Lagos. After about 30 minutes after leaving the park, I started wandering why the bus wasn't moving as it should until another person said it out loud. the driver got angry saying we wanted to teach him his job, so everyone kept quite thinking if he gets to the highway he'd step on it. My dear Hive collogue, could you believe that we got to Lagos 12:27am, I got to the junction I was supposed to come down and notice I have a flat battery, that was when I realized it wasn't funny anymore.

'I'm sure my family members would be worried', said that to myself. I got down to realize that there wasn't bike nor cab anymore, I couldn't cross the bridge to start trekking because it's very risky and dangerous at night. I sat down beside a pole thinking of what to do when a young boy came towards me and ask where I was going to and I told me,

He said he knows a short cut to where I would see cab to my house, I was so scared to follow him at first but I had no choice, so I prayed and followed him. he helped me with one bag while I carried the other one, we walked for about 40 minutes and get to the place he said but no available cab or bike, at this point I was so scared, but I just kept going till I approached an older looking responsible guy.

I asked him for direction, and he said I was at the wrong place, everything got mixed up and was totally confused. while he was explaining how to go about it for me, A private car approached us clamming to be an uber, we negotiated to the price of 3000 naira, I said a prayer and entered, I gave the guy who helped me with the bag also one-thousand-naira [1k]. After about 20 minutes we got home and saw most of my family outside the gate waiting for me, I got down and paid the uber guy and went in to face my cross.

Fast forward to this morning, we woke up to pray Fajr [morning prayer], after that we all started taking our bath especially the females because we know how those gender stays long in the bathroom and delayed with makeup and all, anyways we did some cleaning while introduction was going on downstairs. most of the females were upstairs doing their makeup and wrapping their head tie till the introduction was done. I couldn't do makeup because time has gone so I could only wrap my head tie, so I went inside to get dress. after about 20 minutes some of my sisters and I finally came out, everyone was admiring my dress and exaggerating that I have dress more than the bride herself. We went to the mosque to join the couple together legally then we move to the reception.

on getting to the reception, my sister told me to go the rice section so we can start the serving, I wasn't happy because I haven't taken a single picture, and I wasn't looking as good I was before we left home. I served three big coolers of jollof and fried rice, people already used plates and their hand to scatter my head tie. After lots of serving and serving, I eventually left to take some pictures and we all danced till we got tired. The bride was sent to her husband house with lot of prayers.

What is a saturday in Nigeria without Owanbe party? And what's an owanbe without gele (headtie). May God bless the union and preserve the couples upon goodness. Your dress is really topnotch plus, you don't even need a makeup. Next time, don't follow people blindly in Lagos, especially at night.
