First Day of CNY for 2024!

It was the first day of Chinese New Year yesterday and boy, I had a blast!

Usually, Chinese New Year celebrations can be quite packed and tiring as it is the reunion time for family, relatives and friends and everyone would want to make the best of it.

This year however, my side of family is rather relaxed and I am thankful for that because I am heavily pregnant at 31 weeks plus so I actually have lesser strength to cope and need more rest. Additionally, I did not sleep well the night before.

This year, our itinerary was visting my parents-in-laws at 1030am followed by a lunch with her sister and brother. That is all.

So at 1030am, we headed to my parents-in-laws' place which is 2-minute drive away from my house. Before that I managed to get some photos of my own family, with the boys all dressed in maroon and me in a brick colour.

When we reached my parents-in-laws' place, my brother-in-law's family have arrived earlier than us. So my mum-in-law served us some drinks that is to nourish our lungs. Next up was the bainian time which is the time the younger ones wishing the elderly some auspicious wishes and blessings and receiving red packets from them. My parents-in-laws prayed and blessed us one by one as we are Christians and this was very meaningful to receive their blessings and God's blessings as well.

Then it was the children and parents receiving red packets as our blessings for them too.

Took our family photos before heading out.

After that, it was time to head towards this mall called the Linc for lunch with my mum-in-law's brother and sister. The firstborn sat at the 3rd row with his grandma.

The lunch was a bit delayed because of the food service. Overall the food was okay which I will keep that for another post. My secondborn spotted a playground outside the eatery and requested to go for it. My husband brought him there.

After lunch, my mum-in-law and her sister wanted to go to the supermarket. I walked a while with them and was running out of breath so I went outside to sit at a nice veranda place as part of the supermarket. Lovely.

My family later came to accompany me and joined me for a while.

After we departed from the mall, I think everyone needed some rest so we went home to shower and took a nap. For dinner, I did not need to cook but just to heat up some leftover food. So it was good for me hahaha. We could even enjoy some snacks together after dinner and had some slow time chit chatting together in the hall.

After dinner, we went downstairs for some relaxing time playing sparkle sticks and "pop pop". It was the boys' first time trying out the sparkle sticks and I could tell they really enjoyed themselves because they kept asking for more!

I tried to take as many photos with many people but still I forgot to take with my mum-in-law's brother and sister.

The highlight of the night was I could sleep nearly 9 hours last night. It has been a long while since I could sleep so long hours as I often get waken up in the night by the baby's kicks or toilet runs. I was so thankful for a relaxing first day of Chinese New Year. It was restful so I really thank God for that. If you are celebrating Chinese New Year, hope you are also having a great time!
