My partner is currently working in one of the largest motorcycle taxi companies here in the Philippines. With that being said, we gained a lot more friends than the usual and I am so happy I get to expand my social life with people my partner works with.
Last Saturday, 18th of May 2024, we got invited into a town fiesta of my partner’s colleague in Mohon, Sogod which is a small barangay in the northernmost part of Cebu City, Philippines. The barangay also happens to be the boundary of the town of Sogod and Tabuelan.
We traveled early in the morning with my partner’s colleagues since they planned into helping out in the cooking during the fiesta.
Whenever there are special occasions in their team, they always help each other out, from preparing the ingredients, cooking and preparations, and so much more.
From Cebu City, Mohon is a two-hour drive so we decided to have a mini stopover at the bus stop locatad in the town of Carmen.
They then struck their poses and we headed inside the cafe so we can grab ourselves a cup of coffee and we ate a little bit of their pastries.
Having a stopover when doing long rides is really essential for us to be able to go to the restroom, stretch our backs for a little while, unwind and gasp some fresh air.
We did not stayed here for long, after drinking coffee and eating some of the pastries they sold, we also went to the restroom then after we settled, we hit the roads.
When we arrived in my partner’s colleague’s house in Mohon, Sogod, to our surprise, the whole pig was already set on the fireplace. This is what we call “lechon” or whole roasted pig. This is present on Filipino occasions especially during fiestas.
The whole pig is sliced into half and the ingredients inside it are : lemon grass, onion leaves, onion, garlic, laurel leaves, pepper, some potatoes, some carrots. Some people even add chicken inside the whole pig so that it gets also, but it tends to get overcooked.
After a few hours, the boys then drank beer.
The best way to gather around with friends is really over some beer. It is important to always drink moderately and enjoy every sip.
When it struck night time, we participated in their disco.
Disco was 30 pesos per head which was really cheap, and we could bring liquor inside as long as we sit in the bleachers.
It was so much fun and we danced to the beat of the disco where all of us had our own dance steps.
It was such a fun night with my partner’s colleagues and their partners too who then became my friends also.
Fiestas at the province are really so much fun. There is always good food, drinking and disco. What even best way to celebrate a fiesta with your friends?
It was such a fun weekend and we all got to unwind and have so much fun.
Cheers to fun with friends! Ciao!☺︎♡
