Everyone that has had lice or an encounter with lice I guess it always starts as a funny story. So on Friday night I went grocery, I’ve been noticing this itch at my nape I thought it was dandruff and had planned washing washday on Sunday, but on things got interesting when I scratched my hair and picked this badboy.
You know how you get into a situation and you thought you’ll better handle it because it’s not your first time? Well I’ll have you know this is not my first encounter with head lice, I’ve not had it on me but on people I know and I still FLIPPED.
I had my hair in a twist, because I have natural hair so I can wear wig. This was my hair in a twist earlier that day.
Immediately I got into the car I pulled off my wig, I started ranting to my friend saying “this is lice, I have lice” 😂. After getting me to calm down before we got home I realized I actually do have lice 😂😂 it is not a dream.
How I dealt with my lice;
I slept with a shower cap on that night and had to sleep alone on my bed, I put Lucy in her bed and created a barrier so she wouldn’t get on the bed.
As stated earlier I’ve had different close encounters with lice over the years, and all situations varies I’ve seen it on a baby hair, an adult relaxed hair and on locs.
First of all you want to start off with remembering how or when you noticed the itch, then you make sure if you wear wigs you check your hairs(just incase, get your wigs treated), all the combs you’ve used get it sanitized. Avoid sharing pillows or bed for the mean time.
These are items you’ll need to get rid of lice(these are home remedies, you can go to salon to get it treated)
Nit comb
Essential oils; olive oil, neem oil, tea trea oil, coconut oil, mint oil, anise oil.
Hot comb(optional)
Hand dryer.
Shampoo and conditioner
Steaming cap(optional)
Spray bottle
Glycerin
Shower cap
First of all I start off by damping my hair, because I didn’t have that much lice on, it hasn’t spread I had to act fast. I spritz my hair with 1/2 water, 1/2 glycerin, 10 drops of tea trea oil. I did from scalp to ends. When my hair was damp, I mixed the essential oils and started applying from scalp to ends, you’ll need to get a towel because this will get messy, I did my hair by sections making sure they are proper soaked with the oils. Then I twist in in four section, when done I wore a shower cap, and steam my hair. I did that for 1hour, after taking off the shower cap I used nit comb and comb through my hair section by section, I did this process 2 times.
I rinsed out the excessive oil, then used hand dryer(hot) to dry out my hair, I got my friend to assist me blow dry my hair and used hot comb to stretch it out.
I prepooed my hair for the night, wore shower cap and tied my hair with silk scarf. Today I repeat the same process, My hair had heat damage but I got rid of the lice and nits.
