Revisiting our Childhood Resort

in Weekend Experiences2 years ago (edited)
It's November this month, it is not even summer, but we are back in our childhood resort for a swim. On ordinary days, we would never go out for a trip to unwind in a resort. It just so happen that two of the youngest kids came home for a vacation for more than a week. They mostly lived in the capital, Manila, for their schooling. And tomorrow, their about to go back so today is their final stay here and we're treating them to a swim.

Thinking about it, I think we cousins spent most of our time going back and forth in this resort. Even though it's not that fancy unlike some of the newly built resorts close by, we still prefer the crystal clewr water here instead. Others use chlorine in their pools so there's no doubt that the elders would prefer it here.

On occasions, we go to other resorts, some were further but majority of our summer trips since childhood were spent here.

What I also love about here is that there is a beautiful scenery in the vicinity. You can see a full view of Mt. Arayat, which is the town's famous landmark. I'm not sure if it got featured or included on one of my posts before, but we are quite close to the area where you see the mountain closer.

The Struggles and Regrets

I guess a lot of people have made lots of memories here, we're not the only one. And I guess many would've been sad to know that the resort might close down in the coming years.

Despite a lot of people made this memorable resort alive, it was not enough to help it survive the pandemic. A lot of business were affected by that time, and the resort was one of them. We were informed about it the last time we went here. That is was pawned in the bank and still got debts to pay. If I remember it correctly, 2 years from now would be their time limit.

It was sad to personally here that from the owner but it is what it is. It's not like we can pay on their behalf.

What was more regretful to it was their decision to temporary close down the resort except summer. I know it was somewhat necessary since it is the season where people gather and visit pool resorts, but I also thought of people who would occasionally want to visit. Of course I thought that it would probably be hard to operate in that financial situation since the resort would require several manpower to be maintained but I just can't help it and be sad.

I hope that we can still go there in the coming years.

We're happy to have witnessed the development of the resort over the years. Several cottages were added and as well as some pools. But what was most memorable of them all was seeing the difference in number of people who come there from the start compared to how it was before the pandemic.

I know it might have been so hard for the owner to see his resort becoming almost shut to public from how lively it was before, but what we can do is to only hope that they thrive in the coming years. The owner was actually an old man (maybe around in his 60s) and he was very hands on and was always approaching visitors. He says jokes from time to time to entertain other people so I don't doubt that people who visited there remember the old man.

When we got there, we approached him and had small talks. And he said there were many buyers for the property already but I don't think their family decided yet since some of the family members are still there, or so I thought. The old man was the only one instructing the staff what to do throughout the day so I said that.

It was only us in the resort and only one pool was filled with water but that's fine. As long as we can still swim there and have fun for the day, we can make more memories. If you look at it from a far, it's quite sad since all cottages except ours are empty. But if you enjoy the moment and create fun memories, you can only see hopes and dreams for the resort.

I don't know what course of action the owners of tge resrt will take, but I hope that they can reach to a decision that would benefit them the most. Running the resort for more than a decade is a feat to accomplish. I commend them for doing a good job over the years.

We'll we ever get to swim and relax to our childhood resort in the future?

I'll be looking forward to it! (Until the Next time!)

It's sad to think that this resort might shut down after all those years. Hopefully, the next buyer will be able to maintain or perhaps upgrade the place so that it will still thrive in the coming years.

The spot is so strategic with Mt. Arayat as a backdrop! It's so breathtaking.

I do hope so. It's regretful to think that they might not be able to continue operating as the owners, but everything happens for a reason. And change is the only constant in the world.
