Good day, Hivers! Let me share my experience attending the CRMC Libertad event.
Before this day, I already knew about the "Miss CRMC Libertad Night" event, but I didn’t expect it to happen this week. Curious about the details, I asked one of my superiors if we were required to go to the Libertad Covered Court since that’s where the pageant would be held. She replied, “When I was a working student, we always attended.” I simply said, “Okay, ma’am, I’ll go too.”
Preparations and the Boodle Fight
On the day of the pageant, preparations began in the afternoon at the CRMC quadrangle. There was a boodle fight—a communal meal where everyone eats together, with food served on clean banana leaves.
After my duty, I went to the quadrangle with one of my superiors. We hurried to secure a good spot and managed to find a space perfect for the two of us. Across from us were my coworkers, whom I occasionally talk to, especially since our offices are nearby.
While eating, we chatted about random topics. Once done, I returned to the office and asked my coworkers if they planned to go to Libertad for the event. One of them, who rarely attends events, said she couldn’t because of an exam the next day. Although I also had an exam, I was confident it would be declared a non-working and no-classes day, as was customary after CRMC Libertad Night.
So, I decided to go alone.
The Journey to Libertad
At 7 PM, I gathered the materials needed for the event—calculators, papers, and pens—for the tallying later.
I rode the school bus for the first trip, confident that it wouldn’t be too crowded since classes were still scheduled the next day. However, to my surprise, the bus was already full! I walked toward the last row of seats but couldn’t find a vacant spot. I thought, “Okay, I’ll just wait for the second trip.”
Suddenly, a freshman from our department, also a psychology student, called out to me, saying, “Ate Micah, there’s a vacant seat here.” I didn’t expect there to be an available seat, but I gratefully sat beside her and said, “Thank you.”
At the Event
When we arrived at the Libertad Covered Court, the event hadn’t started yet, and there were only a few people.
An hour later, the court was packed with attendees.
While waiting, one of my colleagues bought peanuts, so I decided to buy some French fries.
When I returned, the event had already started. I sat with my finance family table, enjoying the performances while munching on snacks.
A Little Distraction
Minutes later, one of the staff member daughter's started crying. To help, I took the child outside to distract her since she seemed sleepy. We wandered around, looking at dolls and balloons. After a while, we went back inside, and the child’s mother decided to go home.
Since it was already late, I followed shortly after.
This event was not just about the pageant but also about bonding with colleagues, sharing moments, and being part of the CRMC community. Until next time!
And that’s all for this blog, my dear Hivers! Thank you for reading!
