My longest marathon yet

Happy Sunday, dear Hivers! As I write this weekend's blog, I can't help but feel drowsy due to lack of sleep last night. My sister and I woke up at 2am to prepare for the marathon. We both registered in the 12km category. The difference between the two of us is that she's an active runner who can easily complete a 10km run in just an hour while I, on the other hand, has never tried running 12km. The farthest distance I took part was 10km. So this run is really historical for me.

We were about 15 minutes late from the 4am call time but fortunately, we arrived before the gun started the run. Some even complained that it was delayed.

The thing about outdoor running is that the beautiful scenery is what keeps people going. Witnessing the sunrise appear right before your eyes feels magical. It makes the run worthwhile.

My sister obviously went ahead of me during the marathon and my officemates can't be found anywhere. So I went solo 60% of the time.

Every after a few kilometers, we passed by the water station and a sponsored Pocari Sweat drink. I sometimes feel guilty being one of the people consuming the disposable cups. After people drink from the cup, it simply goes to the sidewalk.

There are also portable toilets stations but I don't think I'll be using it since I find it too dirty. If I can, I will just have to wait until the end of the run to go to the real comfort room.

Halfway through the run, the intense heat of the sun was already felt. Although I believe that this is a good time to get some vitamin D. When it reached around 8am, the heat of the sun has intensified.

Finally, I finished the run despite having an aching leg. I'm sure all finishers felt an immense sense of accomplishment after finishing the marathon.

That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!

Sending some love and light

With love, Jane
