As life moves ahead, our values, wishes, and virtues change with time. I remember when I was a little girl, I always said I would like to be a banker because I admired how they dressed, but growing up I realized there is more than just how they dressed, so my admiration ended. There are values I want to add to my life, not just add. I want it to be a habit, an everyday habit.
By the 10th of December last year, I wrote my goals for the year, how to achieve them, and also the values I would like to add and the ones I would love to drop. One of those values is being consistent every day. The past month, I have tried being consistent on Hive, and I can tell you it has not been easy, coupled with so many distractions and other offline activities I have to meet up with.
It was extremely hard, but nevertheless I kept doing it, and I want my everyday activities to form into a habit so that each day I wake up, I could easily do them without feeling it's too bulky or burning out at the end of the day.The next value is being dedicated to my work and showing up even if I don't feel like showing up and third, disciplining myself. Especially when it comes to strolling through social media. I want to learn the ability to say ‘No’ to things, not to click on that notification whenever it pops up on my phone while I'm still busy. Ability to say no to distraction but rather focus.
Furthermore, the things I would like to stop are laziness and procrastination. Having this mindset, I have enough time to achieve whatever I want to achieve. I want to have the willpower to shun laziness and instead anticipate getting the work done instead of giving thousands of excuses.
Another value I want to keep is being accountable to my work and anything that is placed under my care. This is one of the values I know I have right from when I was a child, which is why most times my friends and family trust valuable items, knowing that they're going to be safe no matter how long they're placed under my care. I feel satisfied whenever I receive the least thank you from someone who trusts me with their valuables and comes back to see it still in good shape.
