Greed, in general, is something no one agrees to be associated with, even though it is practically and evidently showing in their lives. If you pass a microphone to a hundred people, asking them if they’re greedy or not, you’ll hardly find anyone who will admit to being greedy. Meanwhile, greed exists in them.
For me, I believe that at one point or another, every one of us possesses the trait of greed and selfishness. Yes, I have it too because there are situations where I just want more and do not consider whether everyone else has gotten their share. Yes, it happens, but only on rare occasions, and one might not even realize that I behave that way sometimes.

When it comes to greed and selfishness, the people at the top are the leaders, especially in political settings. Oh my goodness, these people are greedy to their bones. They just want to have everything to themselves without caring if the citizens or followers are suffering. This issue is a very big problem in my country, where people fight to attain political positions because they know that once they are elected and sworn in, they will channel enough money from the government purse into their own pockets, money meant to execute projects that will benefit the city and the people. That level of greed and selfishness in the political sector is just too much.
Moreover, it’s the society we live in. The selfishness and greed are everywhere, even at the lowest levels. It is in human nature to be selfish and greedy; it’s just that when it becomes excessive, it has a big effect, a negative one, on the people. Since the greed starts at the grassroots level, it becomes very difficult to control at the top. The only way we can reduce greed and its negative effects on us is to cut down the greed at the grassroots, but that looks almost impossible.
Thank You!
I wrote this in response to Weekend-engagement writing ideas.
Greed is what has most countries in the world in poverty, politicians deceive us with good oratory and empty promises, no matter what political party you belong to, no matter what system you believe in, all politicians, without exception end up corrupted, all earn less than the people, because at the end of their term they end up being richer than they were. and so is everything in the world even the one who sells fruits and grains cheats with the weight to sell more.
