Week 152: The surprising you...

Today is May 2023, and it's been 20 years since I was born. When I was a baby, I just wanted to know what was in this world, but as I grew up, little by little, I learned some things.

My personal journey of self-discovery has led to a lot of unexpected realizations about who I am, but one that sticks out is how resilient I can be in the face of tragedy. While I was growing up, I knew that I was a shy and not very friendly child. As in, it's hard for me to connect with other people. As I grew older, there were these challenges, like

I experienced academic setbacks.

This time I was a first-year college student, I am new to my school, and I have no friends. The class was still online because of the pandemic. It was a real struggle for me because I didn't have an online class set up.

There was a time when I suddenly cried because my internet connection was not stable during the exam, and we only had one hour to complete the exam. After one hour, Google Forms would close automatically.

And it's just so painful because I did all I could, but the result is like that. I was really disappointed in myself at that time.

This experience left me with fear and uncertainty about my future.

However, because of these experiences in my life, I was surprised to learn that I was able to succeed despite these difficult challenges. Despite the fact that there were times that I wasn't sure who I was, I discovered that I had deep inner strength and resilience that helped me move forward in my life.

In the past, resilient meant to me that one must always be strong and have no fear. But as I grew up, I realized that resilient means more about having the ability to adapt to a new environment, to lift ourselves up when we fall, and to keep moving forward despite the fact that we are facing hardship.

This inner strength of mine is telling me that there is always a reason; just keep moving and you will overcome the challenges in your own way.
