My boy Julito, like my brothers, likes to walk in the city, the parks and the ice cream shops. The Coppelia ice cream parlor here is a very nice and big building. So we did not go to Coppelia to spend Sunday afternoon. It was a good choice to enjoy with the family.
We were prepared to wait in a very long line, the traditional Coppelia line where you meet many people, children join without knowing each other and play waiting for the time to have ice cream. Here in Pinar del Rio the ice cream parlor is next to the Praga Cinema and one learns at its doorway by the billboard or by the doorman of the place of the cinema proposals for the weeks.
Two things happened, the cinema was under repair, its doors were closed. At Coppelia there was no line, it was just a matter of going in and asking. What happened, maybe it was the cold. I don't think so, here even though the temperatures are low, people eat a lot of ice cream.
I think that the price of ice cream is not very attractive. So there were no movies, no queues, but a very good ice cream that we accessed without having to wait more than half an hour as we are used to.
In the ice cream house we found three flavors: orange, strawberry and vanilla. There were also some specialties that combined ice cream with sweet cookies, breaded baskets, soft drinks and candies.
The boy wanted to try all the flavors so he asked for a little bit of each one. He liked it so much that he wanted to repeat some of the specialties.
Julito really likes to go to this place because it has an attractive atmosphere. Its spacious halls, front and side staircases are very nice. Also the patio where they offer services is nice, being in the shade of the trees and with a stone wall. There are small fish in a kind of elongated fountain that looks like a canal. This time we sat inside on the first floor. But he went for a walk in the courtyard anyway, so as not to miss the chance to see the fish and to say hello to a little friend who was with his parents having ice cream.
We chatted a bit, laughed and exchanged flavors. We also called some relatives to share our joy. The little boy was pleased. We enjoyed an afternoon of ice cream as a family. It was getting chilly outside but we still enjoyed it very much. Then we stopped by to say hello to my mom, because Julito loves his grandmother very much.
