post topic on hobbies. You may click on the link to be part of the fun!Hello Hive! I hope you are making preparations for a relaxing weekend. Well, I hope to relax and watch some Christmas movies this weekend! Cheesy? 😅 So I decided to participate in this #weekend-engagement
🔹Option one 🔹
Tell us what your hobby is, why you enjoy it, how you do it and what you need to make it happen…
As a young woman, I have many interests and have pursued some of them while some are just in my wishlist waiting to happen or maybe never happen, I cannot tell yet.
Cooking
My foremost hobby that I don't joke with is cooking! I mean who does not love to eat it? I'm not a chef or something sophisticated but I love to spend time in the kitchen and mix ingredients to produce mouth-watering dishes.
The reason I am invested in cooking is because I learned to cook in my late teens. My friends all knew how to cook right from when they were little and when I told them I did not know how to, they looked at me weirdly. I could not contribute to conversations on cooking and food whenever we were together except for book related discussions, LOL!
I became determined and learned to cook at the age of 18 to 19. In my country, that is kind of a late blooming for a woman but I did not allow it to deter me. I spent more time perfecting how to cook local delicacies and it became a hobby.
There is no day I do not cook and my kitchen is one of my favourite places in the house. I'm still learning new recipes and kitchen tricks. I bought some cookbooks and love to try out new recipes. I adore it when sweet aromas of food permeate the entire house. It's fulfilling!
Reading
Another interest I have and engage in every day for as long as I can remember is reading! This is one thing I know to do above all else. From a tender age my dad taught me to read and I very much enjoy doing it. Libraries were my best places in school. I can read for a whole day without worries except to take breaks to eat and sleep. Sometimes, I trade my sleep to finish a book.
I am an avid reader and read all kinds of subjects, except science books. Mostly I love to read fiction in the genre of fantasy, paranormals, mystery, romance and mafia. Also, I read non-fiction but not often.
Before I became aware of digital formats, I spent a lot of money buying and hoarding books. Visiting the bookstore is always like a favourite outing of mine, like I am taking myself on a date. Haha!
I see my books as a treasure and I hope to build a mini library someday.
🔹Option two🔹
What hobby have you always wanted to do but never started - What appeals to you about it and why have you not had the chance to get involved with it.
I have two hobbies that I have wanted to pursue right from when I was a teenager but circumstances made it hard for me so I kind of gave up on them. They are sewing and playing the piano.
Play The Piano
I love singing and have a earnest desire to learn to play the piano. My parents were not really interested in music and sometimes reprimanded me for noise making! 😄 I guess my voice was a bit too loud for their ears so I did not have the encouragement or resources to attend a music school to learn to play the piano.
I joined the choir in church all through to my adulthood and did very well. Finishing school, getting a job and making a life for myself did not leave any room for extracurricular activities like learning to play the piano. I am hoping someday I will learn to play. If not, I keep admiring those who play. But I will definitely give it a try!
Sewing
As a teenager interested in sewing dresses, I registered with a family friend who was a tailor/fashion designer to teach me how to sew. My parents agreed that I do this after school hours. I started lessons and was enjoying it. Then our family friend moved away from our state and that was the end of that dream.
My parents would not pursue it further but encouraged me to face my studies solely. I wished I had sought out other places where I could learn but I doubt my parents would have allowed me to do so.
I read fashion magazines and admire the different couture and sophisticated designs and wished I was the one who sewed them. I don't know if I can still pursue this hobby.
What are your hobbies? Thank you for visiting my blog.

Oh, @kemmyb I’ll teach you to sew. I’ve trained dozens of people. Prepare for distance learning, you’ll be making designer outfits in no time.
Wow, this is lovely @itsostylish! Did you make this?
For real? Lady, you are one bundle of creativity and brains! 😃
You can learn to sew and design your own clothes. I’ve never, ever bought an item of clothing in my life. If you’re serious, you’ll be a designer in 6 months.
PS : resource to get you started. It’s in development, but I’m adding tutorials weekly. https://itsostylish.com/sewingpatterns/index.php
A chef and a reader, nice.
Too bad you couldn't complete your sewing lessons, though you could always try again when or if you're ever free
I wish I had completed my training then. It would have been another feather in my cap. Yes, I hope I have some time to learn again. Thank you @b0s for your kind comment. 🙂
I have known you to be an avid reader and I am also trying to be a bookworm too but I read when I choose to. I also love mixing different ingredients to make delicious meal and I love it. I can spend my whole money to prepare a delicious meal when I am craving for it.
I enjoyed reading this ma
Hehe, you are a pro in the kitchen too. I think cooking is easy and a form of relaxation for me.
Thanks Princess for your visit. 😊
Sorry, out of BEER, please retry later...
You and me, we both have a lot of things in common. 😊😊
Except sewing, that is something impossible for me to learn I think 😄😄
Keep smiling dear 😊😊
We have similar interests and I guess that's why I was drawn to your blog. I also like to cook but I'm in denial because I don't like to work. It's always exciting for me when I make a meal because it's a way of flexing my creative skills.
For sewing, I had the interest right from my younger years just like you and I only learnt at a fashion school for about 9 months altogether. Now I easily learn new styles from YouTube. So as long as you have the basic knowledge, sewing is something you can pursue from the comfort of your room.
And ofcourse, I love reading too. It's probably my favourite hobby.
