I hate embarrassing situations, I know I'm not the only one who hates embarrassing situations, I mean who would like them any way I've had my fair share of embarrassing work moments which I do not like to remember at all. And in this post, I will be sharing one of those experiences. I do not know if this is a universal law or it's just my illusion, but I think before I'm good at something I need to suck really bad at it first.

I've written in the past about how I struggled so much learning graphics design. Believe me, the struggle was real, especially when I made designs that were good in my eyes then (Today I look back at those designs I wish I never made). My boss criticized my work so much that I felt he hated me somehow. Now I look back and see he was just trying to make me better. Today making designs is part of my daily routine at the office, and also check the designs made by my team.

One day there was a program in my church and I was asked to design a flyer for it. The reason I was asked was that I was bragging to a friend of mine and showing him my Bosses designs claiming I made them. I never knew he took it seriously until he told my church and they asked me to make a design. I tried so hard to make them give it to someone else, but they didn't. And the worst thing was they begged me to collect a very low amount of money for the job. I could not tell my boss about the job because what he charges is way higher than what they were paying.

So I told myself I was going to make the first good design I had ever made. By the time I finished making a lot of designs which turned out bad, the people Came for their designs and I was too ashamed but had to show them my nonsense. I saw the disappointment on all their faces, but the most embarrassing part was when my boss decided he would come to my church that day at that exact time. He saw the design which was already displayed for the whole congratulation as it carried important details of the announcement made. He asked who did it, and they told him it was me. I couldn't look at his face afterwards, and he looked at me with so much disappointment but never said a word. The next day he asked me a question I couldn't answer “Are you satisfied now?”

Wow, that was embarrassing, I'm learning graphic design and it's a job that requires a lot of creativity, good that you've learned and now you can advise others. Happy weekend

And the first advice I will always give will be to always be honest

Your boss has a bit of vawulence in him, imagine asking are you satisfied now? This threw me off , hahaha. What then did you answer him?

This can be quite embarrassing especially when so many people expect to see you create magic. Creativity is nurtured and I believe that in due time, you would be creating amazing designs.

My designs are far more better than it was then... That was three years ago

Great. It is so nice to hear this😊

Learning design is not an easy task at all. I can relate to this.

I am currently learning graphics design and my design coach always see reasons why my designs are not okay, even though they look okay to me. 😂

But then, I'm striving to be better. Those things that look like embarrassment are only to make you better.

In time you will get your flow... The idea is to stay consistent

What does he mean by are you satisfied now?? Wahala o 😂🤣😂🤣

I guess I was running faster than my shadow, I could have just told them I couldn't do it

That 'Are you satisfied now?' will hit so bad. More than the Shane you've been feeling. It's all good. You definitely got to learn from your mistake.

Yeah it's in the past now
