The weather’s just right warm and not scorching, the air smells like fresh growth. My Grandparents farm sits on the edge of a quiet town, where all you can see is a animals and different kinds of fruits and plants. It is the perfect afternoon spent working side by side with my grandparents and their workers.

So, Let’s Begin!

My Grandfather planted a peanut on the month of September on our farm . It was located at the back of our house and we walked around 5 kilometers to arrived there. So, Let’s start on how I get there and how we harvest the peanuts.

Afternoon on February 2, 2025 (Sunday) my sister and I decided to go to our farm to help our Grandparents and workers to harvest the peanuts. They had 3 workers and one of the worker brought her child. We walked into this Muddy road,Rocky road,Grassy road.

My Grandfather’s hands are weathered of hard work, but there is a gentleness in the way he moves through harvesting the peanuts. My Grandmother and their workers on the infectious laugh and warm smiles are always there with a basket for the harvest and a story about how things used to be back then. As I step into the field alongside of them, there is a deep sense of comfort in knowing that these traditions will live on my heart forever.

When we arrived, our Grandparents and their workers were already busy harvesting the peanuts. So, without any further ado I automatically get the grass and put it on the other side to make the place clean.

The next thing I did is to help my grandparents harvesting the peanuts, we had so much fun because my grandparents always had a story for every peanuts we harvested . As we walk through the fields, he will tell me how peanut farming used to be done by hand, with fewer machines and more physical labor. We didn’t have all this fancy equipment. So, we did it all with sweat and a little bit of grit. Their stories are full of humor, hard work, and perseverance. Their words and story made me realize how hard life before. We were so glad to have an amazing Grandparents/Family to give our needs in life.

4 o’clock came and we decided to go home and do our household chores such as cleaning, cooking, washing dishes and many more. This blog will be having a part two and I will be telling you about how we sell our harvested peanuts on the market.

I guess that all for today’s blog Hivers! I hoped you’ve enjoyed reading this blog of mine. Until next time, Adios!!🩷

Praise God for the good harvest. It's so nice seeing the fruit of your grandfather's labor. 🫶

Harvesting must be fun especially when you've done it with your grandparents. How I wish I can experience that too!
