Celebration Sunday

Hello my dear fellow hive members, it is a pleasure to be back sharing my weekend activities, this time on Sunday June 19 we celebrated Father's Day.

Since I was a little girl I remember how all my uncles and my mother organized a big party for my grandfather, they filled him with gifts followed by an extraordinary meal, sometimes they would choose a restaurant and sometimes we would stay at my grandparents' house to celebrate.

Although I have a father, my mother was the one who raised me. The last time I saw Mr. Rodriguez I was 6 years old. That is why I was always celebrating with my grandfather and the gifts I made at school were for him. He passed away 8 years ago at the age of 89. Then, when my daughter was born, I shared her day with my first husband on several occasions until we divorced.

This year I celebrated with the parents of my Prince Charming (my second husband), just them and us, as their other children were unable to attend because they were out of town. We got up early because the drive is over an hour, as my father-in-law now does not like to go out often and we knew he would refuse to visit any food place, we decided to buy something different to prepare at home.

Before arriving we stopped at the supermarket to do the shopping, my mother in law called so we could bring her some vegetables because she was preparing beef soup and chicken known as cruzado, we did not think it would be enough so we continued with the original plan and ended up acquiring all the ingredients to prepare hot dogs, additionally my husband chose a sangria and two beers to have the drink.

When we arrived at the house, the soup was being prepared, without wasting time, my husband helped to chop the vegetables and corn that we brought to complete, as well as the seasonings (onion, chili, paprika, chives, cilantro and garlic). My mother-in-law had also prepared a vanilla cake and a quesillo for dessert (quesillo is a typical Venezuelan sweet and is made with condensed milk, egg, powdered milk, rum, vanilla and sugar for the caramel).

After the soup was ready we didn't know what to eat, the options were completely different, I wanted hot dogs, although the soup smelled great, the whole house was impregnated with the aroma. Yes, yes it's kind of crazy, we decided to have a bowl of soup and then eat hot dogs. It's my first time doing that combination, but it turned out good.

After the meal Jesus (my husband) prepared the drink, he adds to a bottle of sangria two cans of beer to counteract the sweet taste. We sat down to enjoy the drink, listen to music and talk trivia. The photo session was not to be missed to share with family members who were not present.

A while later it was time to taste the dessert, Jesus almost ate half of the quesillo, it was delicious.

When the drink was finished it was time to say goodbye, it was 5:00 PM and I do not like the highway at night, as there is a stretch without lighting and it is really dark. Thus concluded my day Sunday and weekend.

Do you celebrate Father's Day?

I bid you farewell wishing you good energy💞
