Year 2014, my friend Barbara was recently married and with a 2 year old son. We started our friendship at our workplace, at first I was predisposed to her because of the references I had been given. According to other coworkers she was somewhat rude, rude and from time to time the position went to her head (she was the personal assistant of the highest authority of the company), it was not entirely true or entirely false, as you want to see it. From time to time she raised her voice and took advantage of her position.
But with me it was never like that, on the contrary, she had joined before me so she was ahead of me, then this girl helped me in my beginnings. After two years working together we could say that we were friends, confidants, advisors, pimps and more. In that year (2014) they conducted a census for workers who did not have their own home, (there would be a window and the company would manage mortgage loans) Barbara was one of them. She lived at her parents' house with her husband and son. Despite her situation, she was not sure about registering for fear of not fulfilling all the requirements and the lack of money to complete a down payment.
I advised her to register, it was a unique opportunity and the way to have her own home, which she wanted and needed so much. I told her that things happen when they are for you without forcing barriers, besides, she had nothing to lose.
Barbara put her fears aside and went to the census. As expected, she was one of those chosen to opt for the credit, and there was the first celebration. I helped her organize the folders, compiling all the requirements, which were quite a lot, making copies, scanning documents, requesting bank references, until we had everything we needed.
The day came when all those selected had to bring their folders, Barbara was there and I sent her messages of encouragement. Two weeks later she received an answer, she was denied credit for an old credit card debt, the amount was small but she never paid it and that is why she was blacklisted. After crying and saying she would not make it, again I was there to encourage her and accompany her to the bank to pay off the debt. Once she received the settlement from the bank, she handed over the three folders again.
Seven working days went by, the credit was denied for the second time. Barbara did not understand the reason, the bank advisor indicated inconsistency in the requirements. She cried inconsolably and wanted to give up. Once again I was with her, going through the bitter pill and trying to figure out where we went wrong. I remembered that I had the direct number of the assistant to the president of the bank (for work reasons she and I had direct communication) who was managing the loans. Without saying anything to Barbara I ran to call the lady, first of all I apologized because it was a personal call and not a business call, she was very kind as always listened to the case and agreed to call me back when she had an answer.
I just wanted to know what had been the second reason for my friend's credit denial and if there was a possibility to fix the mistake. In the afternoon the lady was calling me, indicating that the next day Barbara should go to the main agency, to the top floor where she was and bring back the folders and attach a missing proof. I immediately went to Barbara's office and told her the news, this did not assure anything but we were taking a step forward.
After submitting for the third time the folders to apply for a mortgage loan, my friend Barbara finally received good news, the loan had been approved, Hooray! At that moment she was crying with happiness and thanking me for everything I had done for her, remembering that I had encouraged her to participate in the census, then to assemble the folders, then I put up with all her crying and depression, to assemble and deliver for the second time and the last thing was the call to the assistant to the president of the bank.
Within a month Barbara and other co-workers were signing at the bank and receiving the keys to their apartments.
But that was not all. Two weeks later (December) the company organized a sale of white goods and appliances at wholesale prices for all its employees. It was a good opportunity to purchase or replace household products. Barbara had not moved into her new house because she did not have any appliances since she was living at her parents' house, the only things she had bought and could take with her were the beds and TVs, as well as other personal things.
I had some savings, plus they had paid the first part of the Christmas bonus, so I chose what to buy. Barbara had no money available because she had paid the down payment on her house. I offered to lend her some money but she refused despite my insistence. Everyone in the office was talking about what they were going to buy, especially Barbara. The next day at lunch time I talked to her again and explained that I could lend her the money to buy what she needed so she could move with her family to her new home. She could pay me back as much as she could, I didn't need it and it would be devalued at the bank. Other friends who knew about my offer encouraged stubborn Barbara to accept my help, and she did.
We all happily went to the store that had an agreement with the company to make our purchases, I chose a 12 kg digital washing machine, a five burner stove with its extractor and a microwave and Barbara the same but the 10 kg washing machine. The next day Barbara's boss gave her the refrigerator as a gift.
What a nice Christmas my friend spent in her new home with her family.

What a really lovely, genuine offer to help her out, I am sure she appreciated all the moral support and help.
Yes, she was happy and grateful and I did it without any interest. We continued our beautiful friendship despite not working at the same place.
Thank you for your comment
That's so beautiful, it makes my heart glad. I'm glad that you are both still friends 🌻
That was brilliant and you made her Christmas dreams come true, having her celebrate it in her new home!
She wanted it and I was the impetus she needed to make it happen. I was very happy to be part of the process. 🤗
Yes sometimes we just need a little push from someone!
I am wishing you a wonderful May:)
