Blessings to all my dear hivers! This therapy weekend at my office was such a rewarding experience! Today I want to share with you the story of how I helped one of my best friends disconnect and recharge his energy, taking advantage of Sunday to take a break and feel better. It was something very special for both of us, because I don't always have the opportunity to treat someone so close. My friend came wanting to do something different for his health. He was tired, with his lower back super charged (which is where the most tension accumulates) and with the intention of releasing all the stress of the week. Since he told me what he needed, I knew I had to prepare something special for him. So, as soon as I saw him walk through the door, I already had everything ready for his experience to be unique.
First, I prepared the table with a heart-shaped towel as a little detail, so that he felt welcome and comfortable. 😁 ❤️ I also had a giant glass of ice-cold hibiscus juice for him, so he could cool off before starting and, with that, begin to relax his body and mind. That first sip was like the start button for the session, and from there, he let himself go. We started with the relaxing massage, focusing mainly on the lumbar area. As I worked on that area, I could feel how the muscles were loosening, as if I were loosening the knots one by one. I noticed that he was sinking into the table, entering a state of deep relaxation that disconnected him from everything. Every time I ran my hands over his back, he was relaxing more and more, I like to think that, with each movement, I was helping him release the weight he was carrying on his back... After a few good minutes with the massage, we moved on to moxibustion, a treatment that I really love for its effects. For this, I used moxa from artemisia and chamomile. This technique consists of applying heat with moxa tobacco to the skin, especially on the points of greatest tension, which in his case were in the lower back area. The heat of the moxa, combined with the aroma, helps to eliminate any accumulated negative energy and promotes circulation, which is just what he needed... 😊 The entire session lasted about an hour and a half, where I concentrated on relaxing each muscle, with a very particular focus on him being able to feel real relief. The moxibustion did its magic by warming and relaxing those muscles that were so tense, and he told me that it was as if he was releasing a burden that he had been carrying for days. The idea was for him to leave the office feeling new, without any extra tension and ready for the new week.
It was super gratifying to close the weekend with this experience, seeing how my friend left renewed and with a calm smile. For me, being able to help someone I love feel better, especially on a Sunday of rest, is a gift. It also reminded me how valuable it is to take these moments of self-care, especially on weekends, when we all want to recharge our batteries to start the week on the right foot.
