Am very happy to locate this community and be able to participate in this weekend post I will be answering questions two which states:
When was the first time you took your destiny into your own hands - What did you do, what made you do so, what was the outcome and would you change anything looking back in hindsight?
The first time I took my destiny in my hands.
It all started when I gained admission into the university.
Right from my childhood I have wanted to be a pharmacist up till my secondary school days but when I sat for my first jamb my cut off Mark was not up to I had no choice that to change institution and course to microbiology since I thought it was similar to pharmacy at least if I cannot study pharmacy due to my low jamb score I should at least study something similar. Before I sat for my jamb I usually fall sick constantly I think it started two years before I graduate from secondary school in my constant visit to the hospital I begin to admire the nurses that usually to attend to me and as a teenager I begin to think that wow! I love caring for people especially the sick this is a great service to humanity.
when the admission list was out I was given Agricultural science to study in the university I was not happy or sad but I could not show it because by dad and elder brother love the course since they both own an agric farm of there own where they rear different types of animals and it happens because I couldn't have good grades in my exams so I accepted the admission.
When I got to school (university) I now find out after paying school fees, accomodations, and all the dues that I was in animal science department this increased my hatered for the course you know why because my dad own a animal farm and anything he ask me to attend to them especially the fowls, I will be crying right from when I was a child because when you enter there house with their feed to change it the way the animal will run and jump at you sometimes if you are not careful, bit you and the fact of having to go to the broller cage to pick their eggs every hour to avoid them breaking the eggs they laid makes me hate it.
You might wonder why I accepted the course in the initial stage I did not know it was animal production. I was told that in my year three we will be ask to choose the department we want base on our CGPA and I have decided to read well pass all my course and choose Agricultural science and extension since it does not have to do with rearing of animals but was given the shock of my life.
What I did
I call my brother that I was given animal production that I don't like the course at all and I want to leave ( this start the journey of taking my destiny in my hands) he advised I should not leave that the course is a very good and lucurative course.
I also speak with my mom and dad but nobody saw reasons with me I made up my mind that I was going to change course I took another jamb form with my money but this time I change my mind from pharmacy to nursing my love for the course develop greatly within a short period. I pass my jamb when it was time to travel down and write the institution exam and interview nobody answered me I also used my own savings to fund all the expenses but as God will have it I was given the admission to study nursing science,
where will I got the money to pay for the tutor fee? I call my dad and pleaded with him to let me change institution and course but he refused that he has no hand in it and since I can pay for the jamb form by myself and also process it without his consent I should as well pay for the fee I pleaded, send someone but all falls on deaf ears it was my mom that later pays for all the fees for my year one and two it was in year three before my dad change his mind and start paying for my fees uptill now I don't know the reason he change his mind. now am in my final year as a nursing student.
The outcome
Now I have my RN ( register nurse license) and in few months time I will be a bachelor degree holder in nursing science.
I have never for once regret taking that actions even do my inflow of allowance from my dad was stop for two years.
What I could change if I was to look back.
I could love to change my perception towards Animal science as a course it is not all about rearing of animals as I thought back then and like my dad any brother insisted, it was a good course.
