Hello everyone! 🙂
I am not a birthday person. Celebrating birthdays was never a big thing in my family until we grew older and everybody went their own way. I think this made us value birthday's more as it is an opportunity to come together and celebrate. That is why today I want to shared with you all, a bit of what we lived at my fathers birthday celebration on Saturday.

We didn't plan this for so long and I honestly cannot remember when the last time the majority of my family (which is a very small family) came together for a birthday. So this is definitely something we will all remember or at least I will. We had a chicken soup for lunch. I provided the space for us to gather and also the birthday cake, or should I say, pie. And I made some really simple but from the heart, decorations. We drank some fruit punch and also Neo made some coffee. We talked, laughed, spilled stuff on the table and played. We heard music requested by my dad and then we went into town to run some errands and we finished off with drinking hot chocolate at my dad's favorite and memorized bread shop.

Before, during the celebration and afterwards I felt many positive feelings. I felt energized, hopeful, loving, compassionate. For sure there was a bit of melancholy in there as well, but overall I think we all made good memories. I understand now that neither my family or life are easy or perfect but I do have a family that loves and values me. And all I can do is return that love back to them. I can try to be a good person to them and for them. I can exercise listening tot hem and being empathetic rather than being quick to judge or react. Family is a place where I get to exercise a lot of patience and understand what love is. I constantly learn from them and about me when I am with them and I am aware of why I do things a certain way, why my prejudices exist but also why I hold the values I cherish and where I know I can seek for help, advice or support.
