Greetings, Hivers! It is me again, makiyumee and I am back with a new blog! This time, I am going to be sharing to you a very memorable experience for me and this happened during Mama Mary's birthday which was last September 8, 2024. Be with me as I tell you all the happenings that took place on the very special day.
On that special day, I felt a deep sense of joy and serenity as we made our way to the Capelinha de Fatima Replica in San Remigio, Cebu. The sun was shining brightly, bathing everything in a warm, golden glow. The sky was a perfect, clear blue, and it seemed like the heavens themselves were smiling down on us. It was an ideal day to celebrate Mama Mary's birthday.
As we arrived, the peaceful atmosphere was enhanced by the beautiful weather. Attending the holy mass felt even more meaningful with the sun's rays gently illuminating our surroundings. The day was truly blessed, and the clear sky seemed to echo our gratitude and reverence. It was a perfect blend of nature's beauty and spiritual celebration, making the experience unforgettable.
The church was filled with devotees along with their family, friends and even relatives. Everyone had different kinds of gifts in their hands: flowers, holy water, food, and other offerings. Some even packed lunch and planned to have a picnic outside the church or maybe camp at the back of their cars. It was sight to behold.
The church was alive with the presence of many devotees, each one bringing a unique energy to the gathering. Families, friends, and even relatives gathered together, filling the air with soft murmurs of excitement and reverence. It was heartwarming to see people from all walks of life coming together for one special purpose and that is to honor and celebrate the birth of Mama Mary.
In their hands were all kinds of offerings, each symbolizing a personal gesture of devotion. Some carried fresh flowers, their petals bright and fragrant, while others brought holy water to be blessed. There was basket filled with food, carefully prepared as an offering or perhaps for sharing with loved ones after the mass. It felt like everyone had thought of something meaningful to give.
What even made it even more special was the sense of community. Some families came prepared with packed lunches, planning to spread blankets or foldable chairs on the church grounds for a peaceful picnic under the clear sky. Others had even brought their tents, setting up small gatherings behind their cars, ready to spend more time together in the peaceful surroundings. The sight of people reconnecting and sharing moments like this was truly a blessing. The atmosphere was filled with love, generosity, and the joy of being together in celebration. It was a beautiful reminder of how faith and togetherness can create such a special day.
Everything seemed perfect, but then, as if the sky had a sudden change of heart, it quickly darkened. The bright day turned gloomy in a matter of moments. It was so quick that none of us saw it coming. The cheerful atmosphere turned into one of suprise and urgency. Big, heavy droplets of water began to fall, tapping loudly against the ground. The distinct scent of fresh rainfall filled the air, a mixture of earth and water, both refreshed and unexpected.
Before we knew it, the rain intensified, and my family and I were caught in the middle of it. The crowd that had been so calm and collected just moments ago before was now moving hurriedly, everyone trying to find cover. We found ourselves pushing gently through the sea of people, squishing past those who had the same idea which was to escape the pouring rain.
With the rain growing heavier by the second, we hurried towards the shelter of the church's roof, our footsteps quick and careful on the now wet and slippery tiled floor of the church. The priest continued the mass as the also poured harder and my family and I huddled close together, our clothes damp but we were still grateful to have found a dry spot to wait out the sudden storm.
In that moment, the church became not just a place of worship but also a refuge, offering comfort in the middle of nature's unpredictability. Despite the unexpected rain, there was something calming about being there with everyone, all seeking the same sense of safety and togetherness under the shelter of faith.
Although I noticed that there were some who were so busy taking videos of the downpour which made my sister say about those people posting those videos on their social media with a caption of "Mama Mary's mad because we all had become sinners, and the rain was her anger." but I thought that maybe the rain came by unexpectedly because of climate change.
After what felt like an endless downpour, the strong winds began to lose their strengths, and the relentless rain started to ease. Little by little, the storm's fury subsided. We could hear the winds softening, no longer howling but whispering through the trees. The pounding of the rain on the church roof became a gentle patter, like the sky itself was taking a deep breath, calming down after the rush of emotions.
Inside the church, there was a quiet sense of relief among the people. As the mass neared its conclusion, I glanced outside and noticed a soft glow peeking through the clouds. The dark, heavy blanket of gloom that had covered the sky began to break apart. Slowly, the sun, once hidden by the storm, made its way through the cracks of the clouds, shining its golden light down on us once again.
The warmth of the sunlight touched the wet ground, making everything glistened as if the world had been washed clean. There was a quiet cheerfulness in the air, as if nature itself was giving us a gift after the chaos. The fear of having to move through more rain on our way home faded away. Instead, we felt a sense of peace and renewal, knowing the sun was back, guiding us with its light. It was like a blessing in disguise after the storm as we prepared to leave the sacred place with hearts full of gratitude.
That would be all for my blog today. I hope you had fun reading it, my dear Hivers. I'll see you all on the next one!
Its really amazing how a weather can just change that fast. At least you are in safe place while its raining. And glad that at the end, the weather change. Its like giving you all a chance to enjoy the rest of the day. And its like that rain is also a shower of blessings.
Yes po. We were really suprised when the rain poured down, especially during the middle of the mass. I was really glad that the rain stopped near the end of the mass since there were also a lot of attendees who were commuters🥰
