🙋🏻♀️Hello friends of Hive and the Weekend Experiences Community!🤗
Have you ever worked (at your job) on the weekend? Explain what you like or do not like about it and why. "
The truth is that it has been very common for me to work on weekends for many years. I am currently generating income independently, sometimes I work on weekends and sometimes I don't, but by doing it from home I manage to organize myself depending on the complexity of the day's work to get it done, fulfill other responsibilities and also, reserve time to rest and share with my family.
Previously, from January 2019 until the end of December 2023 (for almost 4 years) I was working as a salesperson and supervisor in one of the stores of the Metropolis Mall, here in the city of Barquisimeto - Venezuela. As I was advancing in my university career and I used to have classes during the week in the mornings, I could mostly attend my job at the store only in the afternoons, and therefore, Saturdays and Sundays were the days when I could fulfill both the morning shift and the afternoon shift at work.
It is worth noting that for that reason my days off from work used to be Mondays and Tuesdays, and I worked straight through from Wednesdays to Sundays. So, while other people hated Mondays because they were the days when they had to go back to their hectic routines, in my case it used to be my day off 😅. Also, even though I worked Saturdays and Sundays all day long, I can say that I never hated weekends because I had to work, I always loved my job and enjoyed being active and sharing with my coworkers.
What do I like and dislike about working on weekends?
On one hand, generating income independently from home makes it comfortable to work both weekdays and weekends. The good thing about doing it on weekends is that I am not alone at home, since my mom and my brother are on their days off from their jobs, and so we all help each other with the responsibilities of the house and share as a family.
On the other hand, when I worked as a salesperson and supervisor I liked working on weekends because there used to be more people at the mall and I had fun with my coworkers while we carried out our duties.
However, something that I did not like was that I could hardly share with my family and the rest of my friends, since they were mostly busy during the week and had weekends off, and I, between my studies and work, was busy during the week, but I also worked all day on Saturdays and Sundays.
In addition, since the malls are open practically every day of the year, including holidays (even December 24 and 31) even if I was on vacation at my university, it was very complicated for me because of my work schedule to have enough opportunities to share with the rest of my loved ones. Even more than one weekend I could not attend meetings or outings with them because I had the responsibility to attend my work.
Of course, with my beloved coworkers I did share almost every day so we practically became family and I highly valued all the moments together with them, however, I do feel that it is necessary to have at least some weekends off and less demanding work schedules in order not to fall into the extreme of living only to work and neglecting both our moments of self-care and quality time with our loved ones, which are extremely important and necessary aspects in our lives.
Hopefully you can really find a vacant or you make a free weekend that you will use to bond with your family and loved ones. It is really needed for quality time.
Thank you! Yes, we need quiality time with our loved ones 💜
Ohhh, I know some people who also work during weekends and has their day off on the weekdays. I think of its me, and if I have a choice I'll still weekends as my day off. Coz I know that weekends is like automatically a rest day to everyone or a night out, a gala or just a family bonding where they take that time to have a breather outside specifically in malls (≧▽≦). Mall thay day was always full packed (≧▽≦)
Yes, you are right. The best thing for our social life is to have weekends as a day off, to coincide with our loved ones and to be able to share with them.
