WE[]: House On Fire What Am I Saving.

Your house is on fire - You manage to get your family and pets out of the house safely and have time to go back for only one single item. What is it and why? Remember, only one single item, not two, or three; One. Write at least 350 words explaining your choice and why and try to use photos you took yourself.

Staring helplessly as fire guts my house, and I can hear the sirens in the distance closing up. I have luckily managed to get my family and pet to safety. Hopelessly waiting for the fire truck to be here so they can help salvage what's left of the house. As I stand there watching the flames devour my home, I realize that there is still something of immense value inside, something that I cannot bear to lose that I know I only have a few precious moments to act on. What could that single item be?

That single item is my school credentials.

You may be wondering why I would risk my life to go back into a burning building for a piece of paper. Don't worry I will tell you why

To you that could be just a piece of paper but to me, those credentials represent so much more than just a diploma or transcripts. They are a symbol of my hard work and years of dedication that I have put into my education, a testament to the countless hours of studying and sacrifice that I have made in pursuit of my dreams. They hold sentimental value. They represent years of my hard work and perseverance. They are a tangible reminder of all the sacrifices I have made and all the challenges I have overcome as a student to get to where I am today. The long distance walks to class on a sunny or rainy day even on cold days. The long tiring hours you stick your already red tired ass down on a strong bench made out of hardwood. The hurtful words that emanate from the mouth of a lecturer when you make a mistake. To me, they are more than just a piece of paper, they are a symbol of my journey, of my growth and development as a person.

Don't worry I'm not done telling you why I'll go back for that piece of paper. You see, those credentials are a crucial part to my future career prospects. In my world or clime today and considering how competitive the job market is, a strong educational background can make all the difference. My credentials are evidence that I have the knowledge, skills, and expertise, and they are important for advancing in my field. Without them, I probably would find it difficult to land the job of my dreams, or to be considered for promotions and other opportunities.

But beyond the reasons above, there is something even more fundamental at stake. My credentials are a representation of my identity. They define who I am, what I stand for, and what I believe in. You probably might be wondering what I mean with that, don't worry I will tell you.

Now if I am at your organization struggling for a contract with other qualified candidates and I tell you that I am a business expert, those credentials stand as a proof to cement my identity. It shows that I am knowledgeable of the business world.

They are a part of my history, a part of the legacy that I hope to leave behind. To lose them would be to erase a crucial chapter of my life, to forget the person I once was and the person I want to be.

Enough said already, I believe the above reasons explain in detail why I would dash back for my credentials and letting my credentials go up in smoke would be a had idea. I know that going back into the house to retrieve them might be dangerous, but I definitely will be willing to take that risk. I absolutely believe that the value of what I stand to lose far outweighs any potential danger.

Sort:

You sound like you are willing to die for it, although a piece of paper could be that important, but is there no way to get your certificate back if it were to be consumed by flames.

I think you can go back to your school or institution, since they have proof that you were a a student, there are always provisions for an accident Incase you should lose your certificate….

So my dear, you have to evaluate the risk, is it really worth your life?

I know this are all fictional, I admire your courage.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts ☺️

Willing to die for it? No I don't think so. But the reason I'll go back into the fire to retrieve it is all based on an experience. I've seen this kinda situation happen to someone close to me. He lost all his cert. in a fire and all efforts to retrieve it from his school after years of struggling were not fruitful. I wouldn't want to talk bad about my country but I know how the system works here.
Thank you for reading.

Well I think the post is very personal and, as such, it lends itself to many different answers, all valid and real and important for each one.

I've always tried to reject labels and conformations, I don't think you are what a piece of paper says, you can be much more.
I also believe that knowledge is carried beyond titles.

There are sages who have not even attended school yet could dispense teachings to world scholars.

Obviously they are all my ideas, I respect your courage and I admire it... I wouldn't risk my life for an object, regardless of the object heh heh!

Like you said, it's very personal hence the reason I will go back for it. Unless there's absolutely no way to dash into the fire, but once there's still chance of saving it then I'm going for it.
Thank you for reading.

I believe that your identity and your value as a person, your knowledge and capabilities cannot be measured by a piece of paper. I understand your point of view and all the effort you made to obtain education and skills, that speaks very well of you. If possible, scan the documentation, make many copies and send the originals to a family member or close friend. That is my humble opinion, I respect you but as I said before you are worth more than some papers. Greetings.
