Health issues, medical treatments and especially clinical trials of new cures are very controversial topics.
Almost everyone at some point in their lives has had to undergo treatment for a specific ailment. There are many who find alternative methods to traditional medicine to alleviate their ailments.
Our body is the physical part of our being and as such we must take care of it. Leading a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy, exercising, resting, not consuming toxic substances and other positive practices can help us to keep it in the best possible conditions, but if we still get seriously ill? If after exhausting all known avenues, whether traditional or alternative, there is nothing left but something totally new?
I am an extremely cautious person when it comes to taking medication. Some time ago I had an allergic reaction to Aspirin and later to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, all of which are frequently used to relieve pain or reduce fever.Since then I only take medication when absolutely necessary. So imagining myself in a situation like Galen proposes, if I were invited to do a clinical trial of a new medical "cure" for a disease I had, but the possible side effects were totally unknown and there was no guarantee of improvement....I really can't say what I would do.
I suppose I would consider the possibility of submitting myself to an experimental treatment after exhausting everything known. I imagine that hope would be the reason for that decision. It may not be my cure, but at least it would serve to bring more knowledge that would help other people. Or who knows and bring with it my healing? Either way, to make such a risky and controversial decision I would have to be, without a doubt, in a borderline situation.

I'd consider a clinical trial but I don't know what I'd decide at this stage though, I guess a person has to be in the situation to really know, and also must know as much about the potential implications.
I think I'd lean towards not doing it though, it seems risky, you know, being a guinea pig for an unknown drug.
It's hard to say what we would do in such an awitiation without actually being in it. I wouldn't really want to be a guinea pig for any new drug either, but if I were in a life or death situation..... I don't know....hopefully we'd never have to decide something like that. Happy week to you.
What a complicated situation... I wouldn't do it, knowing today that there are methods outside of traditional medicine that work, it has worked for me. Every day I am further away from traditional medicine because in most cases they are trying to keep us sick for the sake of making money... a business.
That is the situation that changes the perspective of my position a little. In Cuba health care is free, there is no profit with it. Therefore its approach is more humane, even though the situation has deteriorated a lot, it is still like that in a way and we have some confidence in the health system. However, alternative healing methods are interesting variants, this is how our ancestors were healed. I believe that the human mind has unlimited power and also that in nature are the healing methods we need, it is only a matter of reaching a state of mind and knowledge that takes a lot of study and understanding .... is not for everyone, only for those prepared to take that step of faith. Linda semana Amonet, te abrazo desde la distancia 🤗.
Here too medicine is free ... That's why I tell you, medicines have side effects and so you need another medicine and so on. In the past I took the leap of faith and it works!
I have to work on that, I definitely have a lot to learn and even more to change ways of thinking and learned behaviors. Changing at almost 50 years of age is hard work, but we can always do it!!! 🤗
Age is an illusion like time!!! Go ahead!
