My sister in-law Mrs Gift Nina Emetu bought a piece of land in our locality. It was such an inspiring experience accompanying her and her son Jesse to the village to sign the Power of Attorney prepared by a surveyor.
On arriving the compound of the owners of the landed property, we were welcomed and kolanut as well as hot drink (alcohol) were served us according their tradition.
The 3(three) copies of the booklet was presented to us. I took one and read through the contents and was satisfied.
Now comes the signing. The daughter of the late landlady declared that money must be given her before she endorse the Power of Attorney.
Bargain ensued until she agreed to collect 10,000 Naira. It was given her cash.
She then put her signature on the spaces provided.

At the end of the whole process, we were taken to the local restaurant where we ate pepper soup.
Pepper soup is always a delight.
Pardon me for asking but is it just the Power of Attorney that's being used to evidence the sale?
Thanks for your interest in my weekend experience. But oh NO. There's also a receipt of payment which is also given on the day of payment. Power of Attorney is just like a handover note wherein condition of occupancy is stated. Thanks again. @uchelee
Okay.
