A SHATTERED WEEKEND PLAN

IMG_20240113_082921_681.jpg

Another long expected weekend is here again but for me, it isn't coming as expected and sharing this experience here is giving me a level of relief because I feel so choked to know that my weekend has definitely been stolen or seized by academic activities and It really pains. This is happening so unexpectedly and am feeling so emotional about it, that's why I can't wait but run here to answer the question:

"What would you rather be doing instead of what you're actually doing this weekend and why?"

After having a very stressful week coupled with attending lectures, writing test, presenting seminars and taking care of family issues, I had thought of making the most of my weekend especially my Saturday to fix things I couldn't meet up with in the course of the week and also to take a little time to rest.

I am a wife as well as a student and this makes me have lots of responsibilities and of course, managing the two responsibilities together needs a lot of planning and sticking to schedules if not, there is bound to be a bridge or lapses somewhere.

After our Thursday morning English class, the course lecturer fixed a test on Saturday morning. Gosh! This information was quite annoying to me because I don't appreciate anything encroaching into my weekend schedule of house cleaning, laundry and meals preparation. I frowned so badly at the idea of this test on a Saturday but since the test was scheduled for 7am, I got my nerves calmed a little bit cause I had thought that I will rush home to get every other things done immediately after the test.

I got back home really exhausted on Friday evening after my seminar presentation and after freshening up, I fixed dinner for myself and hubby. After the meal, it was soon getting to bedtime so I had to make a list of the groceries needed so as to make purchases on Saturday. I also needed to read for the test so, the next thing was to find myself on my reading desk.

I slept late so, it was difficult to get out of the bed early but I had to force myself up by 5:45am because it takes me about 45 minutes drive to school and if I fail to hit the road on time, I will definitely be late. By 6:15am, I was already on my way and I got down right on time. Students were already sitted in the hall waiting for the lecturer's arrival, I joined in the wait. By 7:20am, the lecturer walked in and I was sure the test was going to begin only to hear the lecturer drop a bombshell - the test is cancelled! Not only that, he added there is going to be a class by 12noon and all students must be in attendance. To many other students, it was a relieving news as some were not ready for the test but to me, it was really a terrible disappointment. How am I going to waste the next 4 hours doing absolute nothing but waiting for a class by 12noon when I have a whole lot of other important things waiting for me at home. The pains pierced through my heart so deeply because my whole plans had been shattered and I am still thinking of how to restrategize.
I just hope I will be able to meet up with those plans.

Meanwhile, thank you for stopping by my blog and reading through my post to the end. Enjoy your weekend.

At first glance I thought you were carrying pots but then I realized you were in front of it.lol
Anyway you’re really doing well combining wife duties and schooling.

Hahahahaha
Carrying pots to school will be so weird. Thanks for the compliment.
