Hi all...
how are you today? I hope you are always healthy and enthusiastic to carry out every activity :)
Today I want to introduce the one of icon of the city of Yogyakarta.
namely Tugu Jogja. Tugu Jogja at a glance looks like a National Monument (Monas) which is located in the city of Jakarta. what distinguishes it is the small size of the jogja monument, and on the part of the monument there are gold carvings. The monument is also located in the middle of a red light intersection. while Monas is located in a very large garden. the shape is also large and towering.
the history of the monument of Jogja
The Jogja monument is located in the middle of the intersection of Jenderal Sudirman Street, Margo Utomo Street, AM Sangaji Street, and Diponegoro Street. The Jogja monument was originally called the Golong Milled Monument. but as the times progressed this monument was often referred to as the White Pal monument. why? because the color of the paint is white.
The monument of jogja is also a marker of the northern boundary of the city of jogja. Tugu Jogja was built in 1755 by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono I, the founder of the Yogyakarta Palace.
This monument has a symbolic value because it connects the southern sea, the palace of Yogyakarta and Mount Merapi.
According to local people's beliefs, the shape of Tugu Jogja has a meaning of unity between the Yogyakarta palace and its people and this monument becomes the benchmark for directions when Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono I meditates overlooking the peak of Mount Merapi.
Details of this monument there are a number of symbols including animals, gold dots, tapered corners and loto leaves. for the top of this monument is a spiral which makes the white pal monument attractive.
what's the use of a round stone on the side of the road?
This round stone is named Bollard. usually placed on the side of the road. the use of the bollard (white stone) is to dispel vehicles, especially rickshaws, which often park their vehicles along the area by placing them on the side of the road. I think this bollard looks good and can be an object for us to take pictures of.
if you want to enjoy the atmosphere at the monument jogja, around the intersection of the monument jogja there are several caffe places that can be used as a place for us to hang out casually.
I am very grateful that I was born in this beautiful city. many tourist attractions, many culinary places.
