Wanna try something new with me during the weekends? Well, I got you, folks!
A Promise
Last night, my brother looked in the mirror, inspecting his eyebrows. His face was scrunched as he noticed his eyebrows were getting too thick. Meanwhile, I was lying on the couch using my phone when he suddenly invited me to try eyebrow threading. I wasn't really keen on it. I was satisfied with my eyebrows, and I don't really like changes anyway since I'm unsure what eyebrow shape suits my face.
However, my brother is persistent and always persuades me to try things together by getting on my nerves. He would talk nonstop at my face, purposefully showering his saliva to annoy the hell out of me.
I thought about it, and since it was free, I agreed to an eyebrow threading a day after. I hope it turns out well since I greatly care about my appearance. It would be nice if my new eyebrows suited me. But then, I felt apprehensive since one of my friends told me that it hurt a lot. I hope he's wrong, though.
My brother also warned me that there are no takebacks.
The Day After
The Waiting Game and Food Break
After we went to his workplace, we finally arrived at Gaisano Grand Mall Liloan. The salon was named Cherry Nails. The interior is visible on the outside since the place uses glass windows. The motif is pink, and it is decorated with minimal Christmas decorations. However, it was packed with customers, but we still went inside. The staff told us we would need to wait for half an hour.
I was hungry and told my brother I'd like to eat, while we were still waiting our turn. My brother then took me to the food stalls in Gaisano. There were a lot to choose from. Leylam was full of customers so it was crossed. Besides Leylam was Santino's Pizza but I was craving a real meal. Mhai's Kitchenette then came into view. It offered Chicken Biryani (India), Chicken Kabsa (Saudi Arabia), Chicken Bilao (Philippines) and Chicken Tikim Meal, all with Basmati Rice. It's interesting to see that the foods are from different countries.
I ordered the Chicken Biryani. The Basmati Rice was dark yellow and looks smaller and curvier than ordinary white rice. The rice tasted delicious, it's mildly spicy and the nutty aroma is evident. Paired with the chicken, it's a mouthwatering delicacy of mixed spices and herbs. It was a shame that I have mouth sore though so I was enduring the pain while eating this meal. I didn't know beforehand that it would be spicy. It's good that I had a banana shake I ordered from Fruitas! The cold sweetness dilutes the overbearing spiciness of the meal.
I would love to try this meal again after my mouth sore heals to fully savor the flavor!
After eating, I went back to the salon. My brother was nearly done with his eyebrow threading.
A few minutes later, it was finally my turn.
Eyebrow Threading Experience
I wasn't nervous at first, but my brother scared me in the background when I sat down. He told me the procedure was painful, especially for eyebrow-threading first-timers. When the staff handed me a tissue, my brother said it was used to wipe the blood.
The staff assured me that it was impossible for bleeding to happen. The staff also told me that if I couldn't endure the pain, she would replace it with a blade instead. When she started the threading, she asked me if I was alright. She finally made significant movements around my eyebrows when I replied that I was okay.
It was excruciating. It felt as though my eyebrows were plucked one by one with great force. Throughout the procedure, my eyes were closed. Still, physiological tears were coming out, and I held my hands tightly together. The staff also told me not to scrunch my face every time she uses the thread as I might have bald eyebrows then.
After the procedure, I opened my eyes. It was clouded with tears, but I noticed in the mirror that the areas near my eyes were red. I had difficulty opening my eyes due to the tears, but when I got a more precise look at my face, I was shocked to find that my eyebrows were skinny. It looked like half of it was gone. There's nothing wrong with it, but I regretted having my brows done since I'm not used to it.
I was sad, so I shared my picture with one of my friends. She replied that I looked like the evil-tempered staff in our university's registrar. Instead of being comforted by being told I'm still beautiful, I became more melancholic.
Manicure and Pedicure Surprise
My brother noticed that I felt unsatisfied with my brows and asked me if I preferred a manicure or pedicure. I replied that I wanted both since it was his treat. He told me I was greedy, but he paid for it anyway (thanks a lot, lol). He got impatient waiting, so he went to shop for groceries again.
While waiting to get my nails done, I was asked to choose a color. I'm an amateur at color matching, so I asked one of my artist friends, @lizhavesomefun. She sent many pictures for reference; most of these pictures are for a soft, girly aesthetic. I was glad I had chosen a color similar to one of her suggestions!
By the way, the color was named cozy nude.
Kudos to the manicurist and pedicurist. Usually, when I get my nails done, I often bleed since I was told I have thin cuticles. It was a pleasant surprise that I wasn't wounded when they did my nails. I hardly felt anything at all. They were gentle in cleaning my nails.
Personal Reflections
I'm really thankful to have a generous brother, lol. Whether it was for my self-care, food, or other expenses, my brother paid for it most of the time. Thank you for always spoiling me, even though we mostly banter at home (he gets happy seeing my annoyed face!)
By the way, a friend told me I should have decided what I wanted to do with my brows instead of leaving the decision to the threading technician. I should have told the threader that I wanted to shape my brows instead of removing most of them.
Tip: You must know what to expect so they can meet your requirements, or you'll be left regretting, like me.
Either way, I had a fulfilling day.
What about you, how's your Saturday?
