When Nature Calls

You gotta take a leak.

Here I am locked up in my office in the middle of one of the largest cities of Asia and nature calls. It's not just something a quick bathroom break can fix. I don't care if it is below zero outside. I've got to get some fresh air and smell the pines.

In side is warm and comfy but inside me my bones are screaming to go outside. Right behind our house is the nicest trail but by the time I finish work these days it is already dark outside and a little dangerous to be walking in the trails alone.

I miss the long summer evenings when I could walk outside and here the call of the birds and the squeaking of the chipmunks. When I walk with my son he asks me what they are saying and I answer,

"They are calling your name."

Yes Nature knows your name even before you were born she called you and whether you like it or not, whether you live in the city or the country you are part of this nature. There is a delicate balance that keeps us alive and in our right minds. Nature has a lot to do with that. Nature herself lives in a delicate balance and I would like to keep her pristine.

Seasons change but nature is the same

Nature sheds her autumn coat dropping snowflakes like crystal sugar in my tea.
This white powder covers all that is dark and dirty and shines a ray of hope for a new day and a new year. The joy of children laughing, playing and making angels in this crystal palace of snow. I know this too will pass.

Soon the snow will melt into Spring and rushing waters and singing birds will come again but right now everything seems so quiet. The world is asleep covered in a blanket of December snow. I wouldn't miss this winter delight for the world. Yet the short days draw me in to sleep next to a warm fire or a glowing Netflix series.

How much is lost when nature calls but we don't respond!!

Don't call me crazy when I talk to animals

You talk to your dog so why can't I talk to wild animals? It's better than talking to strangers. As a teenager I spent countless hours with a red fox behind our university grounds. We met up by chance in the woods one afternoon. Do you know the most delightful thing about foxes? They always make time to listen. They don't bark back or growl. They sit still and listen.

The first day I met him I stayed a distance and asked him what he was doing so close to our vineyard. He just slowly walked away. Every day this fox became curious and so did I. He must have wondered why I wasn't frightened and also if I posed a threat to him. I would look forward to the time we meet behind the pond after my physics lab finished in the afternoon. At first I was concerned about how he ate and if he would eat me. Then I noticed in the evening when I went off to dinner he went off to the cornfield. Probably he had himself a tasty meal for there was no lack of rodents there. He kept himself fed well. I think he just enjoyed the company. Unlike any other animal this fox enjoyed just setting still and being silent.

I guess anyone could talk to animals but not many animals bother to listen and not many people can understand what these animals are really trying to say. Truly even the smallest of creatures has some kind of intelligence. This is a miracle within itself. The cicada at the last moments of its life sings a song that no one can truly understand. It is something like "Eloi Eloi Lama Sabathani" and then it fades away.

One of the more silly attempts at talking to animals was a couple years ago on an island of the coast of South Korea. I found a black tailed gull who seemed more interested in flying in circles and coming back to the landing to make a dump than anything else. From a distance it seems that animals are interested in mating and getting food and protecting their territory but really what they do most of the time is play. It's mostly humans who are overly preoccupied with mating, protecting their territory and getting food. I don't think it is natural.

So what are you waiting for?

If nature calls..

Then take a dump.

Thank you @galenkp for opening your weekend to us and initiating nature's call through the #weekend-engagement post. I have read some good entries each week and "The Weekend" community is probably the best place to share your weekend. Give this week's topic a try nature and you engagement post.

Wow, this is an amazing one @mineopoly.

Nature is amazing in itself, everything about us wonderfully and marvelously made. Sometimes it's us who can't understand what nature is actually saying to us, other times we misinterprete it and end up felling trees or caging these wild animals. It's our misdeeds.

I would have loved to see how the fox looked liked, I haven't seen any wild animal, guess I'll be scared out of my skin, lol. But it's beautiful to be able to talk to animals, I tried that once and my friends thought I was crazy but then it felt so good trying to understand what the little bird outside my window was saying.

You have an eye for curation. I wouldn't be surprised if one day I find myself wondering if @chincoculbert's curation team will visit my post.

Right now your comment is worth !PIZZA but much more because you shared an important part of my sophomore year in college... talking with the fox. He was a handsome one and I entirely respected that creature.

I wonder if in the beginning it was really like Narnia... well I could imagine !LOL 😆

It would be really great!, I surely would love to bless a lot of people with valuable upvotes, it'll really be encouraging but till then, I'll have to grow and continue to grow till I eventually get to such a stage.

It's really nice to meet a good fox, especially one who'll listen. Thanks for the Pizza .

If the fox had spoken back to you, it would surely have been like Narnia!..

What a cute story about that fox. I could see it playing in my head like a scene from a movie. 😅

Thanks for reading. It took almost one semester to get close to him. We ended up at the same place each afternoon... Me stressed from physics lab and him resting in the afternoon. We liked the same place !PIZZA

What beautiful images @mineopoly! I never wanted to see South Korea until I meet you and see you sharing pictures of the amazing nature that exists there.

Is it an option to drive somewhere safer after work to enjoy nature? Even if you just go to a high point, and get out of the car for a while...

That fox really is unusual :) But no, they don't hunt people 😂

Hi @wrestlingdesires,

In the winter I use the time on the weekend well. If I leave a little earlier I get some nature in the morning.

That fox was rather friendly as foxes go. I remember the tree he would be at. My school was about 30 miles from Chicago in a mixed rural suburban area. I think he enjoyed that little bit of woods nestled between the campus and the corn.

I hope you have a great weekend.^^
!BEER

You have a great weekend too :) You're probably right, he had his home there so he wanted to stay! Did you feed him?

I never fed him. Maybe someone did in the past^^ cute guy

It's amazing that he was so curious, even without food :) Some wild animals are just that way though, they want to know more ❤️

Hey @wrestlingdesires, here is a little bit of BEER from @mineopoly for you. Enjoy it!

Did you know that you can use BEER at dCity game to **buy dCity NFT cards** to rule the world.

Man, all this poetry and philosophy just because you took a dump in the bushes instead of a toilet? Funny the things we can be inspired by, isn't it?

PS: I found out if you had a steemit account before the hive fork you would have a blurt account automatically, imagine that, after all the stress😢 How could you not have told me?😢

Oh... I thought you newly had a Hive account. If your account had been around for a while then yes... You have Blurt.

Surprise surprise, bro, I joined before you 😃

I just never saw that information about blurt in all the articles I read when trying to create my account, such a surprise.

I'm really glad. It's strange we didn't meet on @comedyopenmic. Those were fun days. I didn't have much Steem then because I powered down but I bought Blurt with doge coin I sold.

I think its from me, I wasn't really active back in the days, also explains why my account is still a small one.

I wish Blurt had a cellphone app. I would use it more^^ It's not difficult to find friends there and earn.

Sounds cool. So you just crosspost and everything is good?

Soryy for the mixup... Did you get your Blurt account activated?

Yea, I've got it activated. But I haven't began using it yet, I found out I had an account when I had already quite moved on😅

Try writing a post and finding some friends. Some of the pob gang are there too. You can check my friends and see if you know any.
