Nothing compares to the thrill of boat hopping from the coast of Pundaquit to the stunning Capones Island in Zambales, with its saline wind, rhythmic crashing of waves, and spirit of adventure.
As I prepared my belongings for a brief but remarkable excursion over the immaculate waters of the West Philippine Sea, I started my adventure with much anticipation.
Before leaving, I made care to pack minimally and effectively. A waterproof bag was necessary to protect my phone, camera, and other belongings from unexpected splashes.
Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat were required to protect me from the noon sun, and a dry change of clothing was conveniently stowed within my luggage. Of course, I packed a bottle of water and some snacks—what's an expedition without a little treat along the way?
At the coast of Pundaquit Beach, I met our local boatmen, who greeted us with friendly grins. They strapped our life vests, instructed us on safety considerations, and assisted us in boarding the small, colorful outrigger canoe. The motors screamed into life, and we were soon flying across the sea, leaving the sandy coastlines behind.
In the Philippines, Capones Island is situated off the coast of Zambales. It is located close to San Antonio, Zambales, on the West Philippine Sea. The island is well-known for its rugged cliffs, white sand beaches, and the ancient Capones Lighthouse.
Photographers, campers, and beachgoers all frequent Capones Island. It is frequently visited in conjunction with other islands like Anawangin Cove and Camara Island. The island is often reached by boat from San Antonio, Zambales' Pundaquit Beach.
I could feel the wind whipping my face as the boat accelerated, bringing with it the crisp smell of the sea. The horizon, a captivating fusion of hues that dissolved into the sky, extended indefinitely. It was an exciting trip; little waves moved our boat gently, and splashes sometimes kept us cool from the sun's heat.
As I traveled, I was in awe of the breathtaking rock formations that rose out of the ocean. The shoreline was silently protected by these rocky cliffs, which had been sculpted by nature and time. Capones Island and Camara Island, which are well-known for their white sand beaches and picturesque vistas, were among the noteworthy locations that our boatman pointed us to. Even though we were only passing, I mentally noted that I should see them when I went somewhere else.
The white sand glistens as the sun hits the water, producing a stunning sight that heightens the magic of the trip. As an excursion, the boat journey transported us to the unadulterated splendor of nature and away from the everyday. As we approached Anawangin Cove, the scenery grew increasingly bizarre. We were welcomed to our day's paradise by the line of tall ago trees that swayed softly and the lush green mountains in the background that contrasted brilliantly with the white sand beaches.
As we got closer to the cove, the water's brilliant hue lightened, exposing the sandy bottom below. I soon found myself walking on the cold, white sand as the boat reduced as we got closer to the coast. It was obvious from the serene ambiance, natural beauty, and lack of mobile signals that there was a location where I could fully detach and embrace nature.
An amazing day at Capones Island began with a brief yet thrilling boat trip. I knew I was just where I should be, with my feet buried in the sand and the soft sound of the waves playing in the distance. The ideal getaway, adventure, and tranquility may all be found in a 20-minute sea voyage.
