In this picture we had already been walking for about 3 hours, I felt a little tired. I am going to tell you about this place steeped in history when the Spaniards arrived in Venezuela.

Hello beautiful people of the world. The walk that I share with you today is one that I had wanted to do since I was a little girl. I had always been told that I had to be careful because it was a very tough ride, that I had to go by car, and that it was a long drive. I appreciate the warnings, but it was time to check it out with my own experience.

This year I am like Jim Carrey in the movie where the main character says yes to everything, because I was invited to this trip and I said of course I am going.

My country was discovered and conquered by the Spaniards, that is what historians say. They say that the Spaniards arrived in Venezuelan waters and crossed the great mountain to reach the areas where there was the largest population.

I was dying to step on those spaces that they also stepped on, to imagine and try to feel the energy of the conquest. I am sure that if that place could speak, we could learn infinite stories and impressive tales rich in details.

We did the walk on Sunday March 12, we were in a colonial area of Caracas called Venezuela, we went up in several rustic vehicles to one of the park rangers of El Avila National Park and began the great journey.

Today I want to tell you about 2 sites that impacted me with their energy on this excursion: El Fortin and El Castillo Negro.

The cost of the transportation service is super economical. If you are in Caracas and you like to walk, I recommend you to visit this wonderful place.

The Fortín

The guides of the excursion tell that in this place there were many more forts, serving to control and guard the road through which the conquerors would pass. It is in a strategic place of the mountain, the height and panoramic view gave them advantage before some rebel or enemy.

I felt a great energy being in front of the ruins of the fort. I imagined the tense moments, the military strategies, the situations lived there. My favorite mountain keeps those secrets.
While we were there it was midday, we had some delicious shawarmas for lunch, prepared by my super adventure friend @tibaire.

One of the spaces of the ruins of El Fortin has the structure of a water well.
It is admirable and incredible how at that time, without the great machinery and technology that exists today, they were able to build this fortress on the top of the mountain.

The black castle

I recommend this excursion, it has a lot of rich history, beautiful landscapes, incredible flora, churches, another day I will tell you about those other places. Now let's go to the ruins of El Castillo Negro.

From El Fortin to the black castle we walked for about 30 minutes, and all the hikers passed this way.

I had the illusion of getting more of the Black Castle, only ruins and the space that held it remain. It is said that Simón Bolívar, the liberator of 5 countries of America, passed through there and perhaps spent a few nights there.
It is said that the black color of the castle was achieved with soot, as a war strategy.

The view is impressive, the clouds, the sky and the sea become one to the eyes of those who contemplate the place.

That is how I conquered the mountain that day, stepping on and getting to know the path of our Spanish conquerors.
