G'day everyone.
With my current work roster, my weekend normally falls on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Yesterday I took my car to the workshop to get my clock spring replaced.
Around 2 weeks ago the airbag light flashed on my dashboard. Not knowing extensively about cars, my first instinct is to PANIC!
why? what's happening? what's wrong with you baby? Have I neglected something about you?
(anyone else talk to their car like its a living entity??? ๐ )
I know a work friend that is proficient with cars and has an interest in repairing and fixing up cars. So I mentioned to him my car situation. Very handy of him to have a mobile diagnostic meter in his car, so he did a reading to my car (such a guy thing to have that sort of equipment always ready...)
The diagnostic give back these reports. His advice was mainly my front airbag will not deploy in the event I have a front collision, but I being an over-cautious person, it bothers me that the light is even on, and I'm not taking the risk of dying early due to my negligence. Or worse, being a burden to others because I didn't die in the collision but ended up having a life-long disability because my airbag did not deploy.
Pretty straightforward process when I booked my car to be repaired at the workshop. They confirmed the issue and told me it will be $650 all up,but on the actual day they only charge me $600. I was sad to depart with 75% of my weekly wage, and to console myself I was reminded of the horrible ifs from above and it is not worth it for me to be stingy with myself.
I planned to test out my new rollerblade after dropping my car. Instead of walking home (too slow, boring) or taking an Uber, I figured it was a good opportunity to give the blades a testrun. It's been at least 20 years since I last rollerblade, so there were MANY instances where I lost my balance and almost tripped over. Nevertheless, I still enjoy rediscovering my inner-child and just going through the whole learning process in the emptiness of morning. I took it upon myself I will be less self-conscious trying it out in the morning rather than in the evening where more people will be on the path jogging, cycling, and walking their dogs. Less distraction too.
It took me a good 45 minutes to skate home on the 3km distance. It was close to 10am when I reached home, yet the day already look so bright!
Hope you guys too would have the opportunity as I did to let your inner child come out and play. I certainly had fun ๐
Ta!
I saw the g'day and realised that you were a fellow cobber from Aus. Anyway, thanks for sharing your weekend in my community. I'm not sure if you read the posting guide pinned at the top but if you keep it weekend-focused you'll be gtg.
I just spent a chunk of cash on my LC so feel your pain with car expenses but one must keep them in top shape huh?
Anyway, that's it...All the best from S.A.
Yea! Iโm in WA.
I did had a read on the posting guide and will do my best to adhere to it. But please, give a gentle nudge if itโs there anything wrong.
Stay safe!
