Hello friends of the Weekend-experiences community, I hope you are well today. Today I was reading one of the topics proposed by @galenkp where he invites us to talk about determination and discipline when we want to achieve our goals and dreams. Nothing happens by magic or just by wishing it, having it in mind is the first step but we must be persistent and constant to achieve what we long for.
Things don't happen by magic, it takes many things including determination to make an achievement. What have you achieved through sheer determination, what steps did you take, how did you deal with setbacks and what did you learn along the way?
One of my greatest achievements this year was to do things out of my comfort zone, things that I should do but because of fear or procrastination I always left it for later. One of the things I had pending was to get my identity card that was about to expire and it was quite fast and not as overwhelming as I imagined, since in these cases there are usually queues of people who want to get documents and it can take hours to serve people. After I had my identity card ready I remembered that I had to open a bank account and this also overwhelmed me too much especially because it was the first time I did it and I was afraid that they would serve me badly or in a bad way but everything went very well and I already have my account.
I managed to enroll in a pharmacy course to look for an opportunity in the labor field, the course cost me a little bit especially to understand so many words and strange definitions for me about medicines, one of the things I was afraid to do was to go to the course alone in public transportation since I had knee surgery and it costs me a little bit to walk well and getting on the bus was a challenge but I managed to do it and I could attend all my classes. I had a lot of anxiety about the unknown, especially about the people who were going to play during the course but the group was pretty good and I enjoyed meeting other people although I still have a hard time making friends, I feel that this is something that takes a lot of time, perseverance and confidence but after having completed the course I was happy to finish the course and to be able to start looking for something related to work.
I was very lucky to get a job focused on the pharmaceutical world where I had to face all kinds of people, look for information about pharmacies, meet new people, show a more responsible and dedicated side so that everything went well at work. So far I have done well, for the first time I feel I have been very lucky and I am also in a company that has given me the opportunity and confidence to be one of its employees and to develop myself in the world of work.
Maybe with my age many people think that I should have achieved more or done certain things much earlier than I do now, but it is never too late to start healing and recognize that I have potential and abilities that allow me to achieve the things I want, plus there is always the anxiety for the unknown and that is something that has always been in almost all my life but somehow I have done things with anxiety included. Mental health is extremely important and I try to take care of myself in a way I didn't before, to talk to myself in a positive way and be more compassionate with my processes.
Of course things will not happen without effort, nothing is by luck or chance, we must put effort and desire in the things we do every day either from the smallest to the largest, nothing will reach your door much less life will change if we do not take small steps and achieve habits that contribute to improving our lives. I know I have made a lot of progress this year, especially in the face of fears, those that paralyzed me and made me feel small, but when you put it in retrospect in reality fear is smaller than a grain of rice, if we put positive ideas and focus on working on those things we want to improve, everything will improve because every action has a result. And I end this year thanking myself for being so brave and strong, for trusting in me and for never stopping smiling despite the adversities.
Thanks for making it to the end of this post, I hope you liked it and I appreciate your support and your comments, I send you a big hug 🤗
