Sunday with the Super Heroes in Red. The Volunteer Firefighters.

in Weekend Experiences2 years ago

Friends of C/WEEKEND EXPERIENCES, on the occasion of the celebration of the Volunteer Firefighter's Day, in the Avellaneda area of Buenos Aires, the municipality suggested us to spend a different weekend. In the park La Station, they set up an exhibition to show the different actions performed by these Heroes in Red, as I call them.
The volunteer firefighters, in fact, have already earned the sky. They also respond to the citizens with their exceptional contribution, risking their lives for the benefit of the citizens.

Volunteers are one of the fundamental factors in every community, because besides saving lives, environment and properties, they teach or train citizens in this great work they do. They also help children in their places of study. They organize fundraising events, festivals and form new volunteer rescue squads.

The story dates back to June 2, 1884, when a neighbor named Tomás Liberti was in charge, together with his son, of organizing a human chain composed of neighbors in the area to extinguish a large fire in neighboring buildings. Today there is a street in the neighborhood that pays tribute to Liberti in the vicinity of La Bombonera. The following is the original reference.

On June 2, 1884, the Italian Society of Volunteer Firefighters of La Boca was founded, which gives origin to the celebration of the Volunteer Firefighter's Day in Argentina.
The National System of Volunteer Firefighters is the main operational arm of Civil Protection in the country. There are more than 36 thousand men and 7 thousand women, divided into 1,000 barracks, who expose themselves to danger and provide a professional accident safety service for more than 40 million Argentines, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

In the following images, captured with my phone. Samsung A-12, you can enjoy the great variety of activities that took place there, between firefighters and the community.
The cover image shows the different models of uniforms that have been worn over the years. In this case, I put on the yellow helmet to test how it felt, and it was really a great impression for me to notice how heavy it is. It must be very hard to get used to, with so much mobility involved in any rescue work. It weighs about 3 kilos. Likewise, are the suits and jackets they have to wear.

The dogs also posed and did some exhibition exercises for the children and adults present. Beautiful specimens that are also trained to rescue and alert in case of an accident or other type of natural disaster.
The groups of volunteers were in charge of different activities, one group gave talks about what each truck contained, its parts and tools.

There was a group in charge of demonstrating uniforms to deal with chemical spills, forest fires, and in the communities.
Children were thrown on zip lines to experience the sensation of being rescued or going to rescue.

Others were in charge of giving talks on how to prevent accidents or apply first aid using resuscitation, breathing and immobilization techniques in case of injuries

Here you can see several different moments in action. First aid practices with the public, adult blood pressure measurements, games with the children on the zip lines, demonstration of the tools contained in a truck, etc.

The use of cranes or escalators, which are attached to trucks. The measures of these ladders are about 32 meters and the other 25 meters high. Both have their own characteristics and what they are used for.

Anyway, friends, I have spent a different and very nice Sunday, with this exhibition and in tribute to the firefighters. Long live the Volunteer Firefighters! Cheers to the great team of this community for maintaining this meaningful initiative
I have resorted to the translator, as my native language is Spanish.

This publication is quite a spectacle.

Thanks, my friend @germanandradeg.

The firefighters will always be, among the public service corps, the ones to whom we owe the greatest recognition and gratitude, I feel that they are the ones who make the greatest merit to their vocation and without underestimating anyone, it seems to me that they do everything from the heart.

An interesting experience, sincerely to see the elements that they use this way is much more entertaining than seeing it in a museum or an exhibition. It is a better way to bring their work to the common citizen. What I thought was crazy was the throwing kids around, I know it's safe but I didn't expect that hahahaha.

Of course, that of throwing children is part of the explanations about everything they do and how they act in a certain rescue where they have to put on the equipment to launch. This was accompanied by a talk to the parents with the children. The best learning is through practice and that, children do not forget. They learn by having fun. Thanks for your kind visit friend @ninaeatshere. Greetings and love.😍🤗
