Reinforcing values and strengths

Yesterday my son, as he does every Saturday, participated in his scout group activities. This past Saturday, they had an overnight stay in a wooded area called the volcano.

All of us who know what the main principles of the scouts are, know that one of them is to actively collaborate with the environment, with society, in order to reinforce their ethical and moral values, and that magic that characterizes the scouts is personal and social responsibility, within the framework of coexistence, respect and service.

This opportunity would be no exception. They had spent a week talking among themselves to see what each of them would have to bring in terms of food, work material, among other things.

The meeting point for the children was the museum square. From there they would board a bus that would take them to the town of El Hatillo and from there some public transportation units of the town would take them to the final destination, The Volcano.

Once there, the boys would shed their uniforms and change into work clothes to start the job.

The idea, apart from spending the night in the open air, in the middle of nature, which is necessary for the children, was to weed the area.

For this, my son had to carry a large knife or comb (in my country it is known as a machete), while other children carried garbage bags, gardening scissors and other gardening items.

So while some were weeding the area, others were building the shelters where they would spend the night and others were in charge of lighting the fire to cook the food.

Both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts joined in this fantastic adventure, where everyone was able to put into practice what they had learned at their meeting site.

It was for my son, an amazing, fun weekend.

Since my son started scouting, life has changed for him in a wonderful way.

Definitely belonging to the scouts, reinforces values, principles, moral and social ethics.

All these activities were supervised by their leaders, who in addition to supervising, are the guarantors of their safety.

Thanks for having accompanied me this far.

I always wanted to do this as a kid even in the school where I studied there was a program to do something like this but I was never able to participate 😔.

I am very sorry to read that. I have always wanted to please my son in the activities he enjoys. But these activities are not at school, they are separate. You look for your community scout group and join. When you are ready, they give you the neckerchief so you officially become a scout.
