Dualities of being.
Today on this Sunday I went to the CCC cultural center in Valencia to visit this amazing and unique exhibition.
This cultural center is a great architectural old building that used to be a convent and it has been renovated to a cultural center.
I really love the squared patios of this convent, full of greenery and lovely arches surrounding the outdoor space.
It has a few different exhibitions. Very modern and varied one.
The one I went to see today was so surprisingly weird and attractive to see.. I have never seen anything like that before.
To start with, I want to show these two photographs. They are illuminated from behind. The simplicity of it and the white color over the black darkness of the room, plus the skin color and the water with the foam make such a unique color contrast that is really working very well together. Even being such a common image of a woman in a bathtub.. the mystery of the eyes blinds and the expression of her body is very compelling.
The interior of this room is such a huge and beautiful space. When you walk in you can't stop from gasping a tiny bit.
In this big middle-big corridor space we have a few installations really interesting and futuristic like this one:
It was like lit barrels with baby images inside. So bizarre!
There were statues representing different situations. These two are like ghosts and the one on the left is like a mannequin dressed with swimming stuff and medical tools, like the tube of a dripper.
Some of the installations were so colorful and so cool how they represented different elements. Like the tubes representing flowers, the body hanging upside down and the feet supposedly from this person hanging but placed on the bottom. So confusing and amazing.
Let's keep walking and see what we find on the way... Oh! What's that? Looks like a shelf with tubes but this time they have women's body parts.
I really like it when the photo and the painting are mixed like in the next three pictures. As you can see there is a photo of the sky, a person sleeping, and a beach with some hand drawings like scribbles and doodles.
The three pictures placed together represent three women whose heart is illuminated with warm red color lights. I love how the pictures are in black and white apart from the lips and the red lights.
Another installation consisting of tubes but this time five of them vertical direction side by side, representing five naked women like in classic sculptures and paintings
As I said before I love the color of the lighting... These last two installations project this beautiful purple color painting the whole room with white walls.
Look at that hanging installation now. What is it that is made out of? Let's get a bit closer up. Oh! They are hands and feet!
