Engage the Weekend : An All Hallow's Eve, Indeed

For this #engagetheweekend adventure, I had to share with you our trick or treat adventure. Well, it wasn't too much of an adventure, to be honest. Hattie was under the weather with a nasty cold, and with the temperatures a bit cooler than we hoped for, we kept it easy. I did get to wear the werewolf mask briefly, too.

Honestly, I was really looking forward to this year's Halloween. Last year's festivities, was, for the most part, COVID canceled like everything else. Our daughter was still a bit too young to appreciate the holiday, but still...it sucked. This year, with things back to (somewhat) normal, I was excited to take her to a few of the better-decorated houses to get some candy. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday, so I knew this was the year to get Hattie on board with some serious "spook-tacular" traditions. I know, that's a lame cliche term, but whatever...

First off, as we would be away for some part of the trick-or-treat dance, we decided to leave some candy out in a bowl for youngsters to grab. My wife thought putting a note on the bowl would help; sure thing, Liza. I would guess the candy was completely gone almost instantaneously...and I was correct.

With our superhero under the weather, we took the BOB with us to make life a bit easier for everyone. On the path to my parent's house, we took a few photos of the decorations we did see.

We managed our final approach to my parent's home...

After a marginally successful candy haul:

And grandma's Halloween gift of whatever this is:

It was time for some Halloween videos! You guessed it: I had purchased all of the Charlie Brown films on DVD earlier this year as I noticed the films were nearly impossible to stream. Tonight's movie magic had to include *It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown."

Once Hattie finally fell asleep after a few more Halloween books read, I managed to sneak in a few Halloween beers, as seen below :

Then opted to stream some Young Frankenstein. It's been a bit since I've watched that film, but I always do enjoy it.

Not as exciting as Halloween used to be, but I made the best of it. Next year should be even better. We might even visit a few more homes next time through.

Thanks for checking out my #engagetheweekend post; happy belated Halloween to all, and I hope others enjoyed the weekend too. Until next time, have a wonderful week, as always.

Sort:

I can remember when I was cat sitting at my cousins, she left a bowl of sweets for me to leave outside. Unfortunately, the first caller appeared to take the lot. I had to raid the fridge to give to the other callers. I stopped short in offering them a pint of milk. 🤣

ha,there was a guy I knew that was trying to give away comic books instead of candy a few years ago. Sadly, the comics all ended up on the boulevard - tough crowd

I love sweets but I might have been tempted by the comics.

I chuckled with joy looking at the first pic. Happy Halloween! You sure had lots more fun compared to mine. I sat in a restaurant with odd-looking ghosts and a plate that triggers trypanophobia haa!

No restaurants for us - I remember the days of young...go out to bars dressed up in costumes, eat chicken wings...growning up is something else

I do hope Hattie is feeling a bit better! And "spooktacular" is a freakin cool term!!! Good for you guys enjoying the Halloween weekend.

The photo with the zombie on the ground won me. Love the hands sticking out too. Was there at any point Haittie got scared with those spooky decorations? 😄

And oh, the Halloween beers! cool marketing. haha.

She is feeling much better - the only thing that scared her was the wolf mask, so I was banned outside. Hattie took it all in stride; I'll get her to have Halloween as her favorite yet!

A shame Super Hattie was a little under the weather but even super heroes have bad days. It seemed it worked out pretty well though and everyone had a good time. Even the @sagewolf. Umm...@wolfsigma?

Oh yes - I was feeling it. Even Ms. Mabel was scared of the wolf. It was banned this year while trick or treating, but Hattie assured me I could wear it next year.

Hattie knows best.

Lookd like ye had a great evening. Pity about your little one having a cold, but ye still made the most of it..
