Pickleball has been crazy for me. I've been playing a lot. Just this week, I played Monday 10-12 midnight, Thursday 7-9pm and 10-12midnight and Saturday 10-12noon and 10-12 midnight. I will also be playing tomorrow 10-12 midnight. When I'm on the pickleball court, I tend to be competitive. I don't always win but I want to make sure that I'm at least playing the best I can. I'm usually playing doubles since it's more wallet friendly and in reality, most people there are playing doubles. I'm also looking on improving but I haven't got any coaching; I've been mostly using YouTube to learn to get better. Where am I going with this you may ask.
It kind of leads to the topic of whether I would be a gladiator in a Colosseum or a government executioner. Personally, I would choose to be a gladiator in a Colesseum over a goverment executioner and here's why. I try to imagine pickleball as an arena where my I fight against another person. Obviously, it won't be as bloody but in the end there's a winner and loser. I like how there is a degree of control on what can be done on that battlefield and in a way it's a form of entertainment for the ones watching.
On a side note, I did some research today and found out that not all gladiator fights were a battle to the death which is what I thought initially before doing the research. According to online sources, gladiators were like an asset so owners would take a financial loss if they died. In order to prevent this, they could appeal for mercy and even the crowd might chant for mercy.
Moving on to the main reason why I would choose to be a gladiator. If I was a government executioner, I wouldn't really have much control. I would just have to "follow orders" and kill someone that was given the death sentence. I don't think I could handle killing someone and it wouldn't just be someone but multiple people over the course of the job. I feel that over time it would really mess with my mind which would affect my entire life. To have a steady mental state and be slightly emotionless would be key for the job and I just don't have that. I have a new found respect for this job.
What about you? Would you enjoy being a government executioner and killing people that "deserve" to die for their bad deeds or would you rather be a gladiator and battle it out for entertainment and honor?

haha yes it's kind of like tennis but no strings and they call it paddles. you should try man. it's a fun social sport very age friendly
