I think self care and selfishness are two different things but when self care exceeds it's realm then it enters in the boundaries of Selfishness.
Either it's Self care or Selfish both are self centered and revolve around person's own boundaries.
You know self care brings concept of tenderness, warmth and evokes the feelings of love.
But when we trangress from the feelings of love and enters in hatred then selfishness welcomes us.
Selfishness is eye of hatred towards others too. And i think in selfishness, although thinks about himself but also see others with eye of envy.
Self care sounds good to ears because it is ending with positive connotation. May be that's why it produces the effect of love and devotions towards ones own personality.
But you know, we all should love ourselves and also surrounds us with positive vibes and people and that's what is the real meaning of self care.
There is a thin line between self care and selfishness. Self care teaches us that as we love ourselves and our boundaries then we should respect other's boundaries.
And now i am thinking that, Self obsessed is the same thing but why then they have created so many words if they are falling in the same sea. So it means at least every word has it's own logic and science. In short, there is must slight shifting of meaning in the words.
By the way whenever it comes to differentiate it becomes extremely difficult for me to draw a line. Additionally this topic is entangled into each other so it became a buffled product.

Selfishness means when you have the means and the power to help others yet you decide not to because you do not want any one to take any favors from you. Self care is some thing when you take care of your basic needs and every body has the right to do that.
