Weekend-Engagement #239: Time Heals All Wounds

The expression "Time Heals All Wounds" can actually be true, but I think it depends on the person and the situation. As for me, it worked!

I have never been in an actual romantic relationship, but I did love when I was younger. And when you love, there's a possibility for your heart to get broken. It's still an interesting experience, though. :)

More than 10 years ago, I met someone in my previous workplace. He's one of the students in the English academy I used to work for and my student introduced us to each other. The main reason for this introduction was that we're both into anime. lol

That time, we talked about anime (obviously)... and we discovered that we don't only like the same anime, but also the same music. Because of this shared interest, we got closer to each other.

On some weekends, we'd hang around at home... other times, we'd go out with other students and teachers. It's funny how we'd meet up in secret because going out with just two people (one student and one teacher) was prohibited.

He stayed in the Philippines for 4 months... I found him really fun and interesting to be with, so I eventually realized that I was starting to catch feelings. (insert cringe here... hahaha)

The day after he graduated from the academy, we spent the whole day together. We had breakfast at home and he gave my family some gifts and he gave me a letter and sang a song for me while crying, so I ended up crying as well. haha

We went out the rest of the day and at night, we met up with some of my friends and his friends and went to a festival together. The next day, my mom and I took him to the airport. That was the last time I've seen him in person.

We kept in touch while he was in Australia, but when he finally went back to Japan to continue his studies and find a job, he got so busy that our communication slowly became less and less.

The lack of communication made me give up eventually. We did have feelings for each other (since he told me how he felt in his letter), but I think it wasn't strong enough. We each had our plans for our future, so being in a relationship wasn't a priority for both of us.

Fast forward 10 years later, we still kept in touch and remained good friends. He got married last year, but I was able to happily wish this new chapter of his life well.

Although at some point I got my heart broken, I didn't focus much on it. I think the distance and our priorities in life also helped. Being busy helped me avoid dwelling on it.

Here's a poem I made... maybe 4-5 years ago?

That was the last time I fell in love, I think? I did try talking with someone with the possibility of being romantically involved, but it didn't work out.

I'm now set on staying single and enjoying my life as it is. Anyway, I have to work hard not only for myself but also for my family (parents and furbaby)... so I don't really have time to meet anyone. And I don't really feel like being in a relationship. I'm always in love anyway... with anime... I'd rather enjoy my hobbies whenever I get some free time. :)

Photo he sent me this New Year... it's the first sunrise! :D
