In the past, it's much easier for people to live without any electricity. However, now that we've experience the convenience it provides, it's unimaginable to live without it. It has become a necessity for us to survive.
Although it would be truly inconvenient without it, life without any electricity is still possible. Well, I don't really want to experience it again... but my family and I survived.
It was a few days before Christmas in December 2021 when a supertyphoon occurred in our area and destroyed a lot of houses, uprooted a lot of trees and so on. Luckily, nothing really serious happended in our place. Just a few blown away roofs, uprooted trees, leaking ceilings and so on.
Because of the severity of the damage, we didn't have electricity, water and internet for a few weeks. We're lucky though compared to other areas because our electricity came back before the year ended, on exactly December 31st.
At first, we were worried about a lot of things, but after a few days, we were able to somehow get used to the situation and even found some fun activities to do at home.
The day after the typhoon, my family and I did a lot of cleaning and repairing to do. Luckily, these kids from our community volunteered to help because there wasnt much damage to fix or clean in their house, so they went around the neighborhood to help. We treated them with food before we continued with the cleaning and other stuff. It took us a couple of days to do the cleaning and repair back then.
As there wasn't any electricity, I also couldn't work... so, I sometimes open our place for the kids to do some activities together. I provided them with some art materials and we did some drawing and coloring together. We just stayed outside, so there's good light and air. It was in December, so the temperature wasn't that high.
It was a great chance for me to bond with the kids. Despite what happened and the situation back then, we were able to have an enjoyable time.
We also mostly ate outside that time because it's much cooler and we could save battery for our lights or candles we use at night. The photo above was taken on December 25. I'm glad to spend it with my favorite people. Our skin condition wasn't really good those times, but we're still happy. :)
At night, my parents and I would stay outside to talk or play some games together to kill time. I also really enjoyed stargazing because the night sky was especially clear and bright because it was dark everywhere else. The night breeze felt good, but we had to light some coil against mosquitoes.
We also slept in the living room those days and we'd just open the windows and doors. It's amazing how resilient people can be. Despite the circumstances, if you have the right attitude and the right people around you, then everything would work out. Of course, I don't want to experience another disaster, but surviving a world without electricity is possible. :)
Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your weekend! (^^,)/
It is a great example, how terrible that they had to go through that, although these issues are the ones that put us most in contact with life in its fullness, even if later we return to the routine at hand, thank you that everyone is still safe.
THanks a lot...
It was indeed a terrible experience, but we also learned a lot of things. :)
Have you ever had such an experience?
I experienced some floods but never a super typhoon of such magnitude to the point that houses were destroyed, it is super shocking, I think the time I was without electricity the longest was when there was that suspicious blackout in all of South America 😅
Floods are also really scary and annoying especially when you have to go somewhere. It was a struggle when I was in Uni since I had to wear a white uniform. xD
Ohhh... suspicious blackout? Hmmnn~~
Yes, it was reeaallyy annoying and I loose a lot of books, my mangas, pics 🥲
Ohhhh... that's too bad. :(
I feel you... It happened to me, too.
We need some waterproof stuff... or hopefully, no more flooding. xD
