Eight o'clock in the morning, the sun isn't that high yet and people are still inside their homes watching homily or some Sunday show. Since we are running out of supplies in our fridge I decided to walk outside and go to the nearest wet market in our area.
Fighting cocks can still be heard from the background even though it is already eight in the morning you can still feel the cold breeze as greenery surrounds the area. I never imagined that I will be enjoying such tranquility as when I started living here what you can hear from me is an annoyance as my legs hurt from walking more than 20 minutes to reach the nearest tricycle terminal. I think, my legs already adjusted to the daily long walks perhaps? But my extra rice belly isn't it is still here and I feel that it become accustomed to the abundant vegetables around. Greens in the area are way cheaper versus when we are in the metro. At times we get some free vegetables from our neighbor, pineapple, and bananas from my inlaws.
After a few minutes of walking, I finally managed to get to the waiting shed terminal and as usual, there is no public utility vehicle around. It was silent until I heard some cracking sounds from the megaphone, it was a short announcement that the mass is ongoing and if people would like to attend they can just go to the building or listen to the crappy sounds. I myself still find the irony of the place as every street and barangay's name comes from the Catholic saints but some locations have a huge field intended for fighting cocks which is prohibited in the country.
Alas, the jeepney came after waiting for more than 15 minutes but it was cramped. There is no seat available on the inside. Desperate to go home early, I just grabbed the entrance of the jeepney and stand there hoping that in a few minutes a passenger will be leaving their seat as they reached their desired destination.
After I have arrived in the market area, I immediately went to the wet market area. A lot of fish can be found but to save money I didn't pick the ones that are sold in stalls. I chose the ones that are being sold on the sidewalks as the price was around 20% to 30% cheaper.
Bought two kilos of fish for now and hoping that it will be sufficient until Friday the 15th as this will be my salary day. Our cats are quite picky with the food so we allocate a certain portion of our budget just for fish alone. Before we buy some canned cat foods but they are eating them for the first few days but after a week or so they just leave it as if it isn't an enticing food anymore for them.
Lastly is the vegetables. as I am planning to cook pancit for our lunch today I just drop by the local shop where I frequently buy. They call me "suki" or if it will be translated in English it might be equal to "loyal customer" as I had been buying from their shop since we moved to the area. In return, they give me extra onion or garlic from every purchase that I will have from their store.
I decided to go home after completing my grocery list. Quite accomplished as I did not go over my allotted budget this time. I had been notorious for buying some unnecessary stuff, especially veggies/ fruits that will be rotten in the next few days so it is a great accomplishment for me.
Yes, I was mindful of the budget this time, but if it is a regular day and my scheduled payday for sure splurging will never be an issue, and if my wife will be asking what happened on why I went overboard again I will just laugh and say at least I will have something to cook during midnight if I starve during work hours.
This is something that happened this morning, I am still groggy as last night was quite a blast due to the webinar that Hiveph facilitated.
If you managed to read this far, thank you for your time and I appreciate it.

I remember the last time my husband and I went to market to buy ingredients, (potchero), we had a little argument😂.
Not because of pricea but the ingredients, didn't expect the potchero in Batangas was far different from ours in Visayas.
As prices of everything is getting higher, sometimes we really need budgeting😂
Nako, good thing we haven't such event pa - since we are from Laguna yung punto lang at ibang terms ang iba. I was from the city version near Metro manila kaya medyo tamad at kolokyal ang tagalog ko. Wherein siya naman ay pino at derektang tagalog talaga.
I had a hard time with their accent too in the area but now kinda used to it and been speaking in a slow manner.
Honga the prices are quite high na, hirap mag budget. Mag blog kaya ako para extra income?
Haha speaking of that tagalog, masyado malalim ang tagalog ng batangas😂. There are timea hindi ko siya maintindihan😆
Sa taas ng bilihin kung pwede nga lng wag na kumain😂
