Gladiator or Executioner WEEK 244

Hello everyone

As usual, every weekend comes with just one and one topics, for today's post I have chosen topic number three, all this weekend's topics are ready to spark your imagination, now I have to admit that after reading (and yes, I read it several times, I couldn't believe I was reading) topic number five I had a lot of fun.

In this life I've been neither gladiator nor government executioner, but instead I've visited the Colosseum in Rome, so let's hit the road.

As you can read above I have experienced the feeling of being in the Colosseum in Rome, and yes, if I have to choose between gladiator or executioner I will definitely choose to be Gladiator.

Although the differences are not that great between these two functions, now I know many might disagree with me, but let me start with the end and that is the government executioner, after all, he is a marginalized character, no one will ever remember him, the same goes for the gladiator after death, no one will remember him, probably just that he was once a slave.

I start by saying that the name gladiator comes from Latin and means one who fights with the sword.

No more slavery, no more anonymity, let the battle in the arena begin.

I want to prove to everyone that I am a real fighter and I want to be free, the noise in the Colosseum is deafening, you can hear it from far away, even outside, sometimes you can hear a strange roar, yes, all the gladiators who fight in the arena today want the same thing as me.

I feed myself with the applause of the audience everyone shouts that they want to see blood in the arena, and yes, I have no more patience to fight for my own life and freedom, I want my name to be on everyone's lips.

That's how I see the role of gladiator, but everything changes when it comes to the government executioner.

If to be a gladiator means to have fame, honor and above all maybe to earn the right to be free (gladiators were slaves in most of them), the government executioner is a simple man that I think nobody respects, he acts on command.

You don't have to be brave, you don't have to be a fearsome fighter, but you are a simple employee who comes to work and executes the order, but sometimes I think that even these government executors have a guilty conscience for what they do.

My dears, this was my writing this weekend and yes, better gladiator than government executioner left unknown.

If you are also interested in this weekend's topics, you can find them here.

Sort:

How cool you've been to the colosseum - I imagine that woudl add depth and understanding to your response. I like how you talk about conscience - I thougth that myself, especially as you'd be taking orders with very little freedom, just like a soldier. to be honest, i would hate to do either - how very brutal!

Thank you very much for the comment left here and, yes, I had the opportunity to visit the Colosseum, but honestly I can't say that the Colosseum amazed me.
And I sat and thought how brutal it was out there, gladiator equals slave, rarely did these gladiators manage to become free, most of them remained anonymous, simply used for entertainment.
This was probably the fate of these people.
Have a great week ahead!
