North of Italy - weekend of May 2024
This period is a raining time in North of Italy.
For this reason when weather prevision told me the weekend on 25th and 26th May is sunny, I was very happy for the news!
On Saturday I went with my dog on hills next to Torino, the city where I live.
I would like to go on mountain but weather is not so stable and I preferred to go near home.
As you can see colours are really nice, flowers are in panorama and beautiful villages are all around these places.
I can simply say that it seems a portion of Paradise :-)
Bulla is my dog. She's 4 years old and she's very happy when we go to walk in the nature. We've found a small lake at Arignano, a place on the hills.
Se likes water but only if she can touch the ground with her feet.
These places are famous because of wine.
As the matter of fact it is plenty of vineyards and some of them are really nice and well looked after.
In this shot you can see a small tool house next to vegetable garden and in front of it there is vineyard.
Here you can find Barbera and Dolcetto that are two famous wine from this region: Piemonte.
Another costant in these places are churches.
All villages and some farmes had a small church in their field.
Some of them are for five to twenty people.
This was the number of people in the family.
Now these churches are not still used. Some of them are open in small period of year but they are kept standing.
Saturday was gone and Sunday arrived.
On Sunday I went at the sea.
The sea was calm and the sun was hot but not sultry.
I went at Bergeggi that is a village in Liguria, in the North of Italy.
I was there because I'm a scuba diver and I help friends of mine who have a scuba school to follow students underwater.
We took the boat ad 3pm and we went in front of an island called Bergeggi's island
In the next photo you can see me during the diving.
When you're underwater, if you may ask someone if she/he is ok, you may use hands and it is a classic for italian people, isn't it? :-)
One important thing for people at first experience is going down and up from the surface. These are important moment during the diving
When you go down you have to compensate for the eardrum of the ear, on the contrary, when you go up you have to go slow and to stop at 5meters for 3 minutes.
My buddy was a young man that was at the first experience but he was a great student
We saw an octoput hidden among the rocks, a moray eel in its den during the hunting and a couple of groupers.
When we arrived on the boat he was really excited for the diving and I was happy for him.
It is not the Carribean sea but the visibility wasn't bad.

Now I'm waiting the next weekend.
I know I'll go on the next dive on Sunday and I'd like to go hiking on Saturday again.

You have walked us from the mountains to the bottom of the sea!! I found the small churches very curious, what strikes me the most is the architecture between bricks and stones, it gives them a unique appearance. Diving is an activity that I would like to try at least once in my life, although my ears are very delicate and I don't think that will help me. 😅

About diving, just one tip: start to compensate in the first moment in which your head is under the surface.
Do not wait 30 cm or 1 meter. As your head is underwater, you start compensating.
