Hello everyone! š
Ever since early last year, Iāve had my eyes locked on this ice cream bar thatās opened up at Burwood. The place is called āIce Kirin Barā.
I found out about this place while scrolling through Instagram one day and it was the new thing around that people were trying. The flavours they offered really interested meā¦ and the pictures!

Letās talk about the flavours first!
So theyāve got tea-infused flavours such as peach oolong, earl grey, jasmine milk tea, hojicha, matcha and genmaicha. They then have the Asian inspired flavours like black sesame, ovaltine, strawberry calpis water, Vietnamese coffee and yuzu cheesecake. Also spotted during our visit were hazelnut biscoff and yuzu sorbet. Donāt these flavours sound delicious?
We decided to visit as it is currently summer and the heat has started to hit. We craved for something cold and decided to spontaneously go for a dessert run at night with a friend.
Our friend tried the ovaltine flavoured ice cream with a cone.
We tried the peach oolong and earl grey which are apparently the best selling flavours.

The store also sells their ice cream in boxes which you cake take home and freeze. Itās a good idea if you love the flavour or if you wish to share it with family and friends. They also sell cakes (Swiss rolls) and some other sweets which seems to be popular as they were all sold out during our visit. Our friend has visited the shop before and usually buys the cakes here. He thinks theyāre quite nice. Surprisingly heās never tried the ice cream here!
There are also drinks you can order from here which is really good. I would usually have a cup of hot tea after having an ice cream regardless of the weather. Itās just been a habit of mine and I like washing that milky taste away. Weird, right? From cold to hot š .
Our friend really enjoyed his ovaltine ice cream and said thatās probably his new favourite dessert and heād be getting this regularly if he were to visit Burwood.
For us, the earl grey was alright. We were never a fan of earl grey to begin with but decided to give it a try since it is so popular. I personally enjoyed the peach oolong flavour. I love peaches so it was easily a hit for me.
There are seats inside however they werenāt allowing dine-in due to covid and the shop isnāt big so Iām guessing thereās restrictions of how many people can be inside. Iād love to visit again and try a sorbet next time or even the other sweets they sell.
Did any of the flavours mentioned above interest you?
Oooo will check it out next time when we are in that area
